First time visit to this distillery. Well off beaten track but worth the views alone. Didn't take the tour but had a good look around. Could do with owners investing in this exquisite site. Whisky is excellent as are the staff. Wasted potential.

Our visit to Bunnahabhain was a bit of a strange one. While we got a good standard tour, with proper commentary in each area, the equipment could certainly use some maintenance. The buildings on the outside looked slightly worn out, and the stills could use repainting or cleaning (instead of standard copper or painted brown colour, they were almost black). On the other hand, you will be certainly astounded by the huge size of everything: the mash tun, the washbacks and those stills are one of the biggest I have seen at any distillery and you will get great views of them. Our tour guide was a warehouse worker, who was helping out (?), and while he was knowledgeable and knew a lot, he could have at least washed his hands before the tour (he actually was careful to avoid soiling anything in the shop). The shop is reasonably well-stocked, with all the expressions and some gift items. I could recommend visiting at least for size of the equipment, but the place could certainly use a facelift. 8 / 10

Good atmosphere and staff who were clearly happy to show off what they had to offer. We liked the physical location of this distillery and the smell of the sea. Gave us a great memory. We bought a bottle!

This was our fourth distillery we visited on Islay and it was the worst tour (standard tour). Our guide summed up a lot of technical figures but was not really able to answer general questions. The tour was finished after 40 minutes with one taste of whisky where we only could choose from two different ones (12 Years, Toiteach). In the other distilleries they offered us almost the whole variety of their products.
The whisky itself tastes good but the tour was really disappointing and not worth the money.

What a drive to get here it is beautiful though but not for the faint hearted, the shop though small is worth the visit.
