We visited the beautiful island of Islay, with our 3 year old son. Even though we stayed only 1 night, Andrew and Alison were wonderful and sincere hospitable hosts, with their two lovely daughters who generously shared their toys with our son Iain. There is a huge backyard where girls have their bikes and trikes, so little ones can play with parents at ease.

The bathroom is huge, and very clean. The bedroom is huge too, with ample space for an active 3 year old boy to tussle around in. Breakfast was sumptuous, fresh and with a gorgeous view to the waters. Andrew though not a native local, is well settled in Islay and introduced us to all the lovely places he usually brings his family to... beaches, family friendly restaurants, enchanting castles, distilleries.. etc

Islay is just beautiful, at one with nature, the Bowmore House completed the whole experience ..simple and pure. We started missing Islay the moment we left. Would definitely stay at the Bowmore again next trip, at least 2 days or more.

Loved our stay and can't say enough good things. Andrew went above and beyond to make it a great stay. We needed a ride to a few places and Andrew came to the rescue. We stayed in the Bowmore Room. It is huge and with a wonderful, updated and relaxing bathroom. I enjoyed having tea by the big bay window. Andrew cooks a huge breakfast. I don't know what he puts in the eggs but I crave them. My husband enjoyed all the fish options Andrew cooked. Islay is a nice place to visit and worth the trip. We hope to return one day. One thing we wish we had not done was eat at Harbor Inn. It was not worth the money. We really enjoyed Bowmore Hotel's Restaurant and Lochside.

Staying with Andrew and Alison is wonderful for all the right reasons: location, hospitality, breakfast, and the rooms. Very easy to "settle" in to their house and enjoy Islay. Breakfast was top notch! Spend the extra money and get the huge room that faces the water. You won't be disappointed. Walking distance to the downtown area and the Bowmore Distillery.

Room Tip: The large room facing the water allowed us to spread out and enjoy our stay. Bathroom was very larg...

Islay is a magic place already but Andrew and Alison made it even more memorable. As hosts they could not do enough for us, from a welcome coffee and cake to booking tours and restaurants along with giving us all the local tips on what to do and see with our limited time. Breakfast was generous, the room tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable and large...a perfect stay leaving us with the nicest memories of Islay and its people. These guys clearly love sharing their little patch of paradise and are a credit to their local tourism industry. I hope we get to go back there one day!

If you plan to stay on Islay you can not do better than spend an evening or two or three with Andrew and Alison at the Bowmore House. Wonderful rooms topped off by the charm and warmth of two fabulous hosts. "Pampered" doesn't even begin to cover how you will feel after staying with them.

To top it all off, Andrew's offer of a little breakfast dram was totally unexpected....and never turned down. :-)

I can't recommend Bowmore House enough! Andrew & Alison provide a very warm welcome with nothing being too much trouble. All our random breakfast requests were met without hesitation and always with a smile (including oysters to start the day off with). The rooms are fabulous, spotlessly clean and spacious with exquisite en-suites! I defy anyone to find anywhere better to stay and would like to thank our hosts again for going that extra mile as it was much appreciated.

Room Tip: Our large group all agreed that any room was a good room!

Andrew and Allison greeted us on the evening of our arrival with a lovely surprise -- oysters, prawns and a beverage, then showed us to our spacious rooms with a view of the Bay. Breakfasts were sumptuous and enough for any healthy lumberjack, including Andrew‘s perfectly poached eggs made from fresh, local, free-range hen's eggs. Stornaway black pudding, haggis, smoked salmon and figs are just some of the items on the table, generously served by the hosts. Can't say enough about their hospitality. Highly recommended.
