As a regular visitor to Kippen, I frequently call in for some food & a beer. What I find is a consistent product, warm welcome and a great atmosphere. The atmosphere I am referring to is rarely found these days and for me brings back memories of how decent pubs used to be.
A rare treat and luckily enough for me it is close by. That said, I would happily travel if this wasn't the case.

Having eaten with friends at this pub many times now, I have never been disappointed. The standard, choice and quality are second to none. The owners are friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. If you're looking for traditional pub classics, or fine fayre with a twist, then you can't go wrong here. Definitely the best country pub food in the area.

The Cross Keys is increasingly popular and deservedly so. The food is much more interesting than it used to be, prices remain reasonable and the staff are efficient and friendly. It has a good atmosphere, especially at the weekend, when booking is essential. The patron keeps a close eye on what is going on. The upper room is larger and has a jollier atmosphere but can be noisy. The downstairs room is quieter and there is a nice little fire, but the table immediately inside the door can be drafty. l

We have eaten here several times and have nothing but paise for the Cross Keys. It is a traditional village pub, lovely atmosphere, extremely friendly staff and absolutely delicious food with a constantly changing menu (bring back the hare, please!). It has a good choice of wines and local beers and is a lovely place to spend an evening, sat infront of open fires. A real gem of a place - well done to you all!

Had a couple of very nice meals here: it's a comfortable village pub with food which is a lot better than average - really, a lot!. Best on a cold autumn evening if you can sit by the fire, eating comfort food - lovely stews and soups. If you want a gastropub you might not like this as it may not be pretentious enough for you!
