Just back from a 2 week vacation (holiday) in Scotland during which we had the opportunity to stay at Culcreuch for 2 nights. We splurged on the honeymoon suite and it was one of the better rooms we stayed in during the trip. the location was quaint and we could not have been more comfortable (even with the talk of ghosts in the hotel) during our stay. Of most value to us however was the friendly, attentive service during our entire stay. The staff was thoughtful, engaging and very accommodating. As is always the case when you make a 700 year old castle into a hotel, your expectations should not be set on a spaciousness. If this is your preference find a chain hotel.

My husband and I spent two glorious days at Culcreuch to celebrate our 10th anniversary vow renewal. We stayed in the castle with an intimate group of family and friends, had a beautiful ceremony in Galbraith Hall, and took full advantage of the bar and kitchen. Every single detail was perfect, and truly exceeded our expectations. The castle is gorgeous - I believe they've recently remodeled, and the results are warm and immaculate. After we closed down the bar one night we took over the Drawing Room, which may be my favorite room in any building, ever. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite, which is fit for a princess, and the other rooms our group used (The Keep, Menzies and Battlements) were equally adorable. The service is incredible - every last person we dealt with was genuinely kind and friendly, and endlessly helpful. Since we had a small party, the kitchen even personalized a menu for our dinner, when we had been planning to just walk in and order from the usual fare. That dinner, as well as the meals we took in the Dungeon Bar, were lovely. And speaking of the Dungeon Bar, we were impressed that where it could have been a victim of kitsch, it was instead nicely understated and fun. I have nothing but praise for Culcreuch Castle, and cannot recommend it highly enough. In my opinion, a stay here is worth far more than what they're charging, and we will absolutely be back every time we visit Scotland from now on.

We have just spent a week at Culcreuch for our wedding which was on the 8th April 2010. A perfect venue for us, our close family and friends,we were staying in one of the Woodland lodges. We also stayed in the Honeymoon suite which was just perfect, the decor is really in keeping with the castle. A real magical fairytale of a wedding which I did not want to end. The staff, food and all the suppliers reccommended by the castle were excellent. We even had sunshine to make our special day. Our friends and family are still talking about their visit and many intend to return. We will definatly make sure we spend our anniversary at Culcreuch castle. A huge thankyou to all the staff for looking after us all so well.

My wife and I recently travelled up to Scotland for a family wedding at the Culcreuch Castle Hotel followed by a few days holiday afterwards. The wedding itself was very well organised throughout and the hotel even managed to arrange for the sun to shine on the day even though the Campsie Fells opposite were still covered in snow. Our stay on at the hotel afterwards was also most enjoyable. After the wedding party and other guests left on the Sunday we were mostly on our own except for two couples who each stayed for just one night and we were extremely well looked after by the staff so it was really just like being the owners ourselves. Our room (the Napier Suite) was excellent and had a beautiful view over the front lawn and the lake to the Campsie Fells beyond.
I particularly wish to commend the housekeeper Frances who stood in as the breakfast server as the usual breakfast lady was off sick. She really looked after us and on our last day came up to our room to wish us farewell and a good journey home. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet break in lovely surroundings.

Have been on holiday to Scotland on numerous occasions - this was our first stay in a castle and we weren't disappointed. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The room was magnificent and the food in both the bar and dining room delicious. We were forced to stay an extra night due to heavy snowfall, however, no "forcing" was necessary. Will be recommending hotel to friends and family and look forward to staying again in the not too distant future.

We have just had the perfect wedding in the castle we went up on the Friday night to enjoy the atmosphere and castle. The rooms are large and bathrooms are neat and tidy, the Barons suite is excellent for the brides room as its light and airy for the photos to be taken - not that the honeymoon suite isnt as good, we prefered the view from the other. The food was brilliant at the reception, wine choices were lovely and deserts were a lush treat. The Castle staff are amazing and made the day even better, lost kids and too many flowers wernt a issue lol. We had the castle reccomended to us and we are glad we chose it. I would and have reccomended it to other up and coming brides

This hotel is a castle but it is not particularly attractive although it has plenty of character. The owners are not making the best of its potential as some of the rooms are tired (a fellow guest had no hot water at all in her room). My wife went to make tea in her room and discovered a very obviously unwashed teacup. Dinner was expensive for what it was (ordinary) and aerosol cream was used in desserts – a detail that points to a real lack of quality. The young girls who waited on dinner and breakfast tables were very pleasant and worked hard but the older staff we encountered did not have good people skills. The manageress who dealt with the guest’s complaint about the absence of hot water was unapologetic, defensive and bordering on being aggressive and all the guests who heard her were very surprised by her manner.
