“Great stay”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Booked this through Itison. Room was lovely, modern and spacious and the beds were very comfy. We had a cocktail in the bar which was included in the deal, very good choice and we were served really quickly by the staff. Three course meal was also included and was first class, dinner was beautifully presented and we loved everything. Every member of staff was really lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Looking forward to our next visit to this great wee hotel.

Check-in was fast and efficient and things were looking good, unfortunately things flopped a bit after that.
Room was spacious but a bit tired, we went out for a few hours and on return we decided to treat ourselves to one of the bars advertised cocktails, by the time they arrived I too was tired - of waiting (bar was not busy).
Decided we would go shower (in the power shower that the jets did not work in) and enjoy the bottle of fizzy wine we had ordered when booking - unfortunately the wine had not managed to reach our room yet (room 3), called downstairs to remind/request our wine - it arrived an hour later just as we were finished getting ready to go out.
With this in mind we decided not to eat in the hotel and just use it as a bed for the night, then move on (expected a little bit more from a £140 bed) .

Room Tip: Do not have one.

My husband and I stay regularly in Stirling as our son is at the university there - we usually stay in the Adamo in Stirling town itself but received an email a few days before we went to say that due to essential maintenance we were being re-routed to Bridge of Allan hotel instead!!! Yes the Adamo in town was certainly more convenient for us but as we hire a car every time we stay in Stirling this was no problem. We have stayed in this particular hotel a couple of years back and like before we enjoyed our stay - the staff are very pleasant and friendly also the breakfast delicious! I had no hairdryer in the room (dilemma!) but my husband asked at reception for me and there was 1 promptly delivered to our room (dilemma sorted!):-) The rooms are tastefully decorated, and if I was to say a negative it would have to be that you have to run around in the shower to get wet - in room 4 anyway! If you are looking for a really friendly small hotel with a tasty breakfast and modern yet cosy surroundings in this area then you would be hard pushed to find better - thank you to all the staff!

Lets start with the positives - great location in main street of the up-market Bridge of Allan; great countryside nearby and only 35 miles from Glasgow/Edinburgh; has its own brewery in a lovely little building at the back where you can sample their beers; very modern design; good sized rooms; food good (but not great); breakfast cooked to order and well presented.

and the negatives - all the little things that make a good hotel great - having to ask for stuff more than once; ordered a Sunday morning newspaper but didn't arrive and no explanation; no sauces offered at breakfast ( I ask you a full English/Scottish without brown sauce!); brought tea with no milk, again had to ask and finally those Saturday nights - yes the basement club does close at 3am Sunday morning and its noisy for 15-20 minutes as people get taxis (however could not hear any music or the like as we stayed on 2nd floor) so if you want uninterrupted sleep best stay somewhere else.

Having booked one of the townhouses I was initially a little let down to find that they'd been taken off the market and weren't available to stay in (and didn't receive a call to say so).

However the staff, Alistair in particular was a credit to the organisation and helped find both myself and my colleague an alternative that not only exceeded our expectations but ended up being home as we were assigned suites for 4 weeks. A few hiccups here and there (a student night in the downstairs club on a MONDAY of all days!) shower taps not working etc but you'd look past all this because of the service that was provided was second to none, the rooms are lovely, food delicious and I'd definitely return.

Had a nice evening meal, sat in the bar (which is fairly steep) but they serve good booze. The lady behind the bar certainly knew her way around a cocktail or two! Went up to the room later on (the staircase is pretty cool by the way) and got a good nights sleep. Would go back
