We recently stayed four nights at the Chilhowee Mountain Retreat for my girlfriend's birthday. The facility is amazing! More importantly Jim and Mary are tremendous hosts. They are warm, friendly and a delight to be with. They made our weekend unforgettable. Whether it was directions to a local trail or entertaining us with delightful conversation, they were a joy to talk to.

My wife and I recently selected this B&B for a weekend trip to the mountains and boy were we glad we did. The entire place was spotless and the furniture and bed were super comfortable. The views of the mountains and Happy Valley were spectacular too. Jim and Mary are terrific hosts. They catered to our every need and spent the right amount of time getting to know us and the other guests. I highly recommend this inn, especially if you like remote, out of the way beautiful locations.

I say it was an experience because it was more than just a Bed and Breakfast stay. The owners go out of their way to make you feel at home and accommodate your every need. From the moment you walk in your greeted by the friendly innkeeper and given a tour of the place. No pictures can do this place justice. The B&B is set upon the top of a mountain and the views are spectacular. We stayed in the wildflower room and would wake up to the sights of the mountains every morning. Jim, one of the owners, is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He can give you great suggestions on what to do during the day and is great to chat with during your stay. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing. You would expect that kind of food at a fine dining restaurant. You can tell they have taken a lot of time planning and cooking each meal. I can not say enough about this place. The bed was the most comfortable we have slept in, and the bathroom has a state-of-the-art jacuzzi tub and rain/steam shower. It was our first B&B stay and can confidently say there will never be a greater experience at another B&B. This is a MUST DO if your a B&B enthusiast or first timer like us!

My husband and I wanted to celebrate our five year wedding anniversary in the Smoky Mountains. As soon as we saw the pictures on their website, we were sold! The rave reviews on Tripadvisor added to the appeal as well. Everything during our stay was absolutely perfect. Jim and Mary are delightful hosts and made our anniversary trip one we will treasure always. We were planning to get up and leave early for an all day hike and to skip breakfast one morning, thinking that it would be too early in the morning for our hosts. However, Jim put a big smile on his face and said, "No problem!" and made sure to have something waiting for us at 6:30 am! Talk about service!
Things you won't want to miss while staying here: Breakfast, evening views on the back porch rocking chairs, and the beautiful gardens and the birds.
Helpful hints: book an extra night! Time flies by too quickly! Also, it is a pretty steep drive up the mountain so make sure your car is in good condition. Our 4-cylinder was huffing and puffing but we made it up just fine.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Forrest View room and loved sitting in the hot tub each night and watching the star...

Thanks for your great review. We were so happy choose to celebrate your anniversary by staying at our Inn. As far as breakfast, we try to accommodate our guests needs during their stay. You needed a good solid breakfast in you for the challenge of Thunderhead. We are always pleased to hear that our guests enjoy our porches, flower gardens and of course the birds who frequent our feeders. Thanks again for your review and especially noting how great it is to watch the stars from the Forest View Room's hot tub. We look forward to seeing you again.

This was our second visit to stay with Jim and Mary. We usually do not make return visits, but we can't wait to return again! The only thing that beats the setting and the facility is the hospitality. If you want to be refreshed and recharged, stay at Chilhowee for a couple days. Thank you Jim and Mary.

Room Tip: The Bear Room has an awesome view.

I have been lots and lots of places but this lovely B and B swept me off my big feet. Jim and Mary are gracious and friendly, the log home is beautiful, the food fabulous and this was the cleanest Inn I have ever been at my entire life. The views are great...seriously....not one thing is missing at this retreat. It was hard to leave but we will be back. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Every room is perfection.

Chilhowee Mountain Retreat is a beautiful place inside and out. The view from the deck is breath taking and invites you to relax taking it all in, not to mention the elegant and grandiose lines of the lodge itself. We loved our room (wild flower), so spacious, clean and very comfortable. Jim and Mary are great cooks and very warm and hospitable hosts. We are looking forward to visiting again.
