What a great experience! Wonderful hosts, beautiful and comfortable accommodations, very creative (and delicious!) breakfasts, incredible views and so relaxing. Chilhowee Mountain Retreat was beyond our expectations. Yes, it's a climb up the mountain to get there, but so worth it. Jim and Mary really make you feel at home and have definitely created a "little piece of heaven" in the Smoky Mountains.

P.S. If you're going in the next couple of weeks, ask Jim and Mary to make Cades Cove cornbread!

We had such an amazing stay at Chilhowee Mountain Retreat. Everything was outstanding...the rooms, the views, the hospitality, the breakfasts .... We left feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated. The attention to detail, the kindness of the hosts, the delicious meals ... all were so fantastic and above our highest expectations. We are looking forward to our next visit ... which we hope will be soon!

Room Tip: We stayed in the carriage room ... loved it! Absolute privacy and outdoor hot tub ... which we enjo...

From the moment we pulled up to the front door we were greeted with friendly mountain music and Mary greeted us with a warm and gracious welcome. The retreat is absolutely beautiful, charming, comfortable and peaceful with a million dollar view. Breakfasts were wonderful. Jim and Mary are the perfect hosts and makes all guests feel totally welcome. We highly recommend to anyone interested in a wonderful get-a-way. Will definitely go back. The Sheas

I, like some others on here, found this gorgeous retreat through Living Social. We live in Louisville but my husband owns a construction company and we were staying in Mobile, Alabama when it came time for our trip. It was a long drive - 8 1/2 hours - but it was so worth it to get to stay at such a beautiful "retreat" which is truly what it is. The owners, Jim & Mary, have put so much time and thought into every detail of this magnificent mountain-top escape. We stayed in the Forest View room that has a hot tub on the deck which was wonderful for a relaxing night under the stars after the long drive. We knew we wouldn't want to go back out that evening for dinner so we ordered the antipasto platter. OH MY GOODNESS! I have never seen such an array of different kinds of spreads, cheeses, and condiments in one place in my life. And Jim's olive tapenade is the best I've every had! We had taken our own wine with us, which I'm glad we did, and took it down to the dining room to have with our dinner. Everything was wonderful. And the breakfasts each morning were delicious as well. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday, so when we went down for our first breakfast there was a vase of flowers waiting for us - what a special treat! That night we drove down to the town of Maryville to have dinner at the Foothills Milling Company - WOW! I wrote another review for that restaurant. The drive up and down the mountain to get to the retreat was steep and winding, but after one or two trips up and down, we managed it quite well. All in all this was a very relaxing trip - even with the long drive. We will definitely be going back - hopefully next year for our anniversary again. Thank you Jim & Mary for making us feel like we were at home in your home!!!

Room Tip: We liked the Forest View room because of the hot tub and it being separate from the main house which...

A real winner--incredibly beautiful wooded mountain setting; an unbelievable view; amazingly well designed, built, and appointed three level log masterpiece; and such cordial, thoughtful hosts who prepare delicious breakfasts (and evening cookies, too!). With just three carefully planned guest rooms, there is a real sense of privacy and personal space. A porch looking out on Great Smokey Mountains National Park stretches most of the length of the main floor. The open upper level is devoted entirely to two guest rooms, which are on opposite sides of the house with the staircase and a sitting area in between. The third guest room, where we stayed, is above the nearby garage and also beautifully done. Great stay!

My husband and I found Chilhowee Mountain Retreat through a Living Social Deal. I was just coming out of producing a large event for my company and had been working 70+ hours a week for a month. This B&B was exactly what we needed! Jim and Mary are wonderful hosts - who also make some amazing breakfasts! They were so personable and great to suggest some wonderful restaurants in town for dinner. The large room was extremely clean and had a great view of the mountains. Having coffee in the morning on the back deck was so peaceful and relaxing.
We highly recommend the Chilhowee Mountain Retreat - I promise you won't be disappointed! We will definitely be back!!
