We recently enjoyed an overnight stay at this resort hotel 25-26th Oct. 2012. The building, rooms and views are impressive, unfortunately let down by poor service training and restaurant quality. Our evening meal was served by a young waiteress who spilled water over the table cloth, splashed wine in to my glass, my main course was served on a stone cold plate resulting in cold french fries which were replaced, but did spoil the meal.
Breakfast next morning was no better with the same waitress dribbling coffee all over the table cloth, with no attempt to conceal or cover it, even with a napkin and no apology, just a vacant look. I ordered poached eggs which arrived with the consistency of ball bearings served on vinegar sodden toast and when asked if all was OK my complaint was brushed off with the remark that 'they're usually served the opposite', presumably that meant extra soft!
Check out was not a pleasurable experience, the young man at concierge who undertook this interrogation into our 'non' use of the mini bar, I can only think was trained by Strathclyde Police and not a hotel school.
If the establishment is going to continue trading on a five star ticket and charging appropriately, they really need to pull their socks up.
My booking reference was HC1064139/1 but the hotel webb page would not accept it so I could not enter a review directlyMore
