Wonderful stay.

From the minute we arrived we were treated wonderfully. The staff have great customer care skills and you can tell that they want you to have the very best time in their care.

Dinner was lovely but I must say the breakfast was just perfect. A nice touch to be offered some champagne with our breakfast.

Hotel & accomodation magnificent!

What a lovely touch to have a piper in the evening!

Will return.

Stayed here with my husband for three nights as part of his birthday surprise. After reading the reviews about the hotel at Turnberry I was so glad that I had booked the Turnberry Links Estate. It was excellent value for money and the apartments were perfect. Loads of space, decorated and maintained to a very high standard. Everything that could be asked for (including dish washer, microwave grill, high fi, TV and DVD, balcony and loads of space in the wardrobes. There was also an ensuite bathroom off the main bedroom.
Although Milton Wynd is not part of the Turnberry resort it is less than a mile a way so it is easily accessible and the golf courses of Ailsa and Kintyre are within walking distance but with clubs it is best to drive to the club house where there is ample parking. You are still able to access the hotel and go there for food / drinks. We booked the spa at Turnberry via this company for a day for the pair of us and were not disappointed (£25 per person for the full day which included use of the gym, sauna, swimming pool, steam room. We got given gowns and slippers to wear and water and fruit was provided.) It was very relaxing but if you want to have any treatments they need to be booked in advance. I would also recommend either going to Wildings(£23.50 for three courses) in nearby Maidens (Seafood restaurant - excellent reviews) or eating in at the apartments. The prices at the nearby Turnberry resort are very expensive with it being £32 for a steak Dianne plus £5 for vegetables. People we spoke with said that although pricey, the food is nothing special. Wildings is by far the place to go.
This company do offer golf packages however I rang Turnberry direct and got a better deal so this needs to be researched if you are wanting a round on either Ailsa or Kintyre.
Overall though - Excellent value for money, excellent facilities, lovely surroundings and we will most certainly be returning.

Room Tip: first floor for good views, lifts in place.

We have booked a weeks break at the Turnberry Links Estate for March 2011 - the full amount was immediately deducted from my credit card (2 weeks ago) but despite sending numerous e-mails and leaving messages on answer phones we have had no communication from this company. We have not had a confirmation email as promised and have not been provided with a reference number. We are now in the uncomfortable position of having paid for a break and worrying that it will not happen. The telephone number provided (which is difficult to find at all on the web site) is never answered and I have been trying every day for 2 weeks!!!!. Even if the apartment and break are fantastic I would never recommend an organisation whose communication is so atrocious. Save yourself the worry and stay away from on line booking for a break here.

We went up recently to Turnberry for a combined golf & family break and stayed in one of their apartments. We had booked this online & received an email telling us to contact the new apartment manager a few days prior to travel. We did but it took me emailing them to get her to return my call - not great customer service. We were told she had returned our call but strangely we had no missed calls or voicemail left on my wife's mobile...?!

The apartment manager asked us what time we were expecting to arrive (4pm) and asked us to call her mobile when we were approx 1/2 an hour from arriving which we duly did at 3:15pm. However her phone went straight to voicemail. We then called the other person she suggested we contact in case she was unavailable. Our call to him also went to voicemail. He did call back but seemed put out that the apartment manager had given us his number but he did agree to meet us at the apartment and let us in.

On arrival at Milton Wynd, we discovered that there were 4 apartment blocks & no one was there to meet us. We had not been told which apartment we were in and had to hang around in the car park for 20 minutes before this chap arrived to show us to our apartment.

We have a 22 month old daughter and had booked a high chair & cot for the week at an additional charge of £20 in total. There was no sign of these in the apartment. Having just travelled up from the south east of England & with a daughter who had become ill on the journey, this was the last thing we needed.

I called the apartment manager & left a message again making it clear we needed the cot & high chair. She eventually called back some 2 hours later & called round with a travel cot & high chair. I said that we had tried contacting her but her phone had gone to answerphone each time to which she said that she was in an area where there was not a signal. Given she knew that we were arriving at around 4pm and had asked us to call her 1/2 hour before we arrived, I was more than a little surprised by this comment.

Prior to hearing back from the apartment manager, I also called Jane Orr who had taken our reservation as it was getting late & we had no cot for our sick child but I have not had a response (& still haven't as of today!).

The apartment itself was fine although the carpets and decor were tired / stained but the whole experience was let down by poor customer service. If you are playing golf in Turnberry, these apartments provide comfortable accomodation about 900 yards from the clubhouse & are reasonably priced compared to the hotels. They are the other side of the busy main road from Ayr though. Just be prepared to be messed around by the apartment manager!

Having checked out other reviews on Tripadvisor, I see that I'm not the first to experience these problems - be warned!!!

Stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days with 3 pals.
We booked a pair of twin rooms and two rounds of golf.

On arrival the door staff couldn't do enough to help you. They carried your bags, parked your car, stored your golf clubs etc. And they were dressed and presented perfect.

The reception was very small and even though we arrived at 4pm we still had to wait 1 hour for our room to be ready. We were not offered a drink while we waited which would be the least I would expect at 4pm when your room was not ready.

Rooms - They were very small, but I suppose adequate.
Bars - Champs bar was good with sport on tv and a RED snooker table.
Restaurants - Main restaurant was good and the food very nice indeed.
Views - Amazing.
Golf - Very good, although you need a bit of luck with the weather.
Golf Bar and food - What a complete rip off!!! - We all ordered a steak sandwich at £15.95 each. It came as an open sandwich (no top) with a small piece of frying steak on the top and a few crisps, all this a an amazing £15.95, what a joke!!!

Overall
A very nice hotel with good resaurant food and drinks, but be prepared to pay through the nose!!!, You have been warned

I booked our 3 nights stay via the Turnberry Links Website from the US, the booking was made at the last minute (24 hours before arrival) and confirmed. My flight from the US was delayed because of the volcanic ash disruption but I called the apartment manager as instructed as soon as I landed, it went straight to voicemail. I received no call back and left 3 subsequent messages and got no call back. I called the 0845 number on the booking confirmation, but they seemed to know little about the whole set up. We arrived at the apartment and no-one was there to hand over the key, by this time it was 6.30pm and we were getting very desperate. We spoke to a resident who was very helpful and gave us some numbers to try but to no avail. Finally at 7.30pm the apartment manager called and said her phone had been off all day as it was her birthday!!!! and that she was supposed to get a text to advise of any new arrivals/bookings - it would help if you had your phone on then !
We were given a very brief tour of the place handed some dirty looking towels tha smelt of cigarette smoke and 2 toilet rolls and that was it she was off. I paid extra for internet access and there were no instructions - thankfully I am a techie so could sort it for myself.
The apartment was flithy, the kitchen was a disgrace, food all over the workstops, cooking fat all over the floor, the carpet was dirty and stained, as were the toilets. All surfaces around the place were dusty and sticky.
The location itself is great, but this particular apartment was shabby and dirty. It has proved impossible to contact anyone to discuss the whole debacle, emails bounce back as undelivered, there are no address/company details on the website, it is a total shambles. Avoid this place at all costs......there are far better alternatives in the area. The website totally misrepresents what you actually get.
Ellen Wallace at [--] has a lovely apartment on the same complex and was willing to let us stay there for the night when she heard about our predicament.

Turnberryapartments, Guest Relations Manager at Turnberry Links Estate, responded to this review, May 10, 2010
Our representative was a little late calling the guest back owing to exceptional circumstances. However, on meeting at the property the guest confirmed that they were perfectly happy with the accomodation which has recently been refurbished to the highest standard. The comments we have received in this review do not represent what was conveyed to us by the guest at the time.

We have hundreds of extremely positive reviews regarding our accomodation and service and look forward to welcoming you!
