We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gardenrose. Movern and John were most welcoming, offering us afternoon tea and home baking on arrival. The Glasgow Room was beautiful - as is the rest of the house - it was fun spotting all the original Arts and Crafts features. The bed was very comfortable and the shower great. The welcome pack of mineral water, home baked biscuits and real coffee was very good and the breakfast was excellent and tasty - fresh fruit, good choice of cooked options and croissants.

Room Tip: The original features in the Glasgow Room are lovely and the shower is brilliant.

Where do we start, the house as a whole is lovely, cosy and welcoming. With hosts like John and Morvern you can't really go wrong, so friendly and hospitable.

Our room (oriental) was more like a 5 star boutique with the huge bed, and feather pillows, we both slept like a log. The bathroom was of a very high standard with large walk in shower and free-standing bath of which I wouldn't tire of bathing in every day.

Finally, the full scottish breakfast was to die for, with eggs made to order.

All in all our experience was faultless and we will definitely be back.

What can I say? We have been totally spoilt by staying with Movern and John. We have spent the past 4 weeks travelling throughout England, Scotland and Wales and have not had a better stay than at Gardenrose. The rooms are superb, giant comfortable beds, fantastic showers, beautifully decorated. The house is warm and inviting not to mention the hosts. Our whole family were warmly welcomed with tea, coffee, scones and cake. So fantastic after a long day of travelling. Breakfast was a treat with plenty to choose from. Well prepared and presented. Since staying at Gardenrose nothing has compared and to be honest most have been a dissapointment. We hope to return in another couple of years. No need to guess where we will be staying!

Room Tip: Stay as long as you can!

We stayed with Morvern and John for one night while travelling around this area of Scotland. It is a beautiful house, carefully and tastefully decorated in every detail. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble and every detail considered. It is the best B & B I have ever stayed in.

We stayed with Morvern and John for one night while cycling up route 7 from Dumfries to Ayr. The house itself is quite simply stunning and you can see that a lot of time and effort has gone into every detail. We went for dinner in nearby Minishant as the only drawback to Maybole itself is a lack of good restaurants but there is a great selection within a few miles and John was very kind to give us a lift which was a real bonus. We made sure we left plenty of room for breakfast however and it didn't disappoint, scrambled eggs with black pudding and salmon!

Would definitely recommend and will be back if we are in the area again.

We stayed in Maybole so that we could see Culzean Castle easily the next morning. This was one of the most beautiful B&Bs I have ever stayed in. The Arts and Crafts style is beautifully shown in all the rooms: from the tiled fireplaces in the hall to one in our bedroom and even in our bath (although there is no need to use it). Even the light fixtures show a Mackintosh-inspired style. The shower was very contemporary, showing a most pleasing updating of style from 1911 to the present. The breakfast was one of the best we've had as well: smoked salmon and eggs and strong coffee. The hosts also recommended a great place for dinner: Brig o Doon in nearby Alloway. My only regret is that we could only stay one night. Another couple was staying two weeks there. How I wish we were that lucky!!

Hosts Morvern and John go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. The house is stunning and our room an absolute winner: tastefully decorated, with ample space for clothes, good sized bed and well-filled hospitality tray. The designer bathroom is exceptional, taking a shower is an experience you definitely don't want to miss and worthy of a five star rating. Wonderful breakfast. We immediately decided to return!
