“Excellent Food”
Reviewed August 27, 2014

First class afternoon dining from lunch menu - the tastiest sole and the most steak I have ever had in a steak pie followed by two generous deserts, for £11 each. Great quality and great value. Nice spot too, particularly on a sunny day to sit outside, if you don't mind traffic going past!!

“SUNDAY LUNCH STILL THE BEST”
Reviewed August 26, 2014

Went to the inn onSunday 24th August. The chicken and sirloin of beef were marvellous. Goats' cheese and cashew nut starters were delicious. Couldn't face a pudding after that!

Staff are very friendly Still keeping up a first class standard

“Good food let down by diner setting”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

Went here for a leisurely family meal and found it to be very nice. We had heard from many locals in Maybole that the staff are rude and rush you but we experienced nothing like that despite dining in a peak period.

The wine list was reasonably priced if not a little limited. We were served in a respectable amount of time. I ordered the fillet steak surf and turf rare, it was cooked perfectly and I'm confident the portion exceeded that stated in the menu as my steak was huge.

Overall the meal was very enjoyable but it was let down by a decor that didn't know what it was doing with itself. Despite booking in advance we were clumsily crowded into a cramped booth and struggled to make room for ourselves.

Otherwise we enjoyed good food, attentive service and an okay atmosphere. This restaurant is easily the best in Maybole, but it would be leaps and bounds better if it did something about the decor!

“Don't drive past !”
Reviewed August 23, 2014

From the street, it looks if not like someone's house, maybe a quiet cafe, certainly not, this is an excellent restaurant, great food, excellent friendly service, we ate as a family of 4' with young children, and whilst it is relatively formal environment, we were very welcome, and attended to. Definitely recommend.

“Way beyond our expectations.”
Reviewed August 20, 2014

Normally we have lunch in Ayr when shopping but on this occasion decided to stop on our way down the A77 travelling towards Stranraer. The Minishant Inn is about six miles south of Ayr.

Our expectations were not high from a small village inn. We anticipated plain ‘pub type’ grub.

What a surprise. They had two very good menus; a main main menu and a lunch/snack menu. Both were very reasonably priced and offered a wide choice of meals.

The service was the best we have experienced in a very long time. The staff were friendly, courteous and extremely efficient. We were quickly shown to a table and within minutes were enjoying tea and coffee whilst browsing through the menu.

The food arrived very quickly and was tasty and well presented. I ordered macaroni cheese. What I was served was macaroni in a creamy cheese source with leeks, bacon, and garlic bread on the side. My wife chose sole goujons which were perfectly cooked and served with a dressed salad and home made chips.

Our waitress returned to ask if we had enjoyed our meal (and meant it). We confirmed that we had (and meant it)!

An excellent meal all round and a very pleasant dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!
