I eat here several times a year and take golf clients there every other week ,the service food and menu choice is fantastic, second to none .
The prices are very reasonable and the staff know what it's all about . Do not miss out this dining delight

Room Tip: Smoked haddock risotto as a starter can also be served as a main course ...delicious

Stayed overnight with friends, a late, late christmas present. We had all been here a few years previously & loved the food but not the rooms. Times have changed & the rooms are all clean, smart, spacious & modern. Very peaceful nights sleep. Slight layout problems in bathroom, only place for hand towel is on heated towel rail which was over the toilet roll holder, but we wouldn't knock it down for that. Staff at check in very pleasant & spent lovely time waiting for dinner time. Dinner was extremely busy, Saturday night, & were starting to panic that tables would be full to bursting. No need to panic as busy as it was, the restaurant is surprising large. Dinner - bottle of wine which was pre ordered was not on table as expected; service was at best patchy; had to ask several times for another bottle of wine, had to ask for menus for dessert, had to ask for someone to take order, you get the picture. Basically a self service restaurant as we had to attract attention & service most of the time to get fed. The annoying thing was, we were at a table right next to the door closest to the main walkthrough area, not hidden away in a corner. We did complain the following morning but an apology & excuse of being busy didn't fully wash. We think that the staff, mostly young, aren't trained fully as we noticed during the meal that some seemed to be working at full pelt & others coasting through the night. However, from starters to desserts, we all had great food with top marks to the sea bream & king scallops. Breakfast a bit hit & miss. Tea/coffee before fruit juice minor complaint. Overall though, would we return. Yes, the food overshadows more or less everything else. Good sleep & great food, just the staff to train & a top class establishment would be overlooking a small pretty harbour.

We were with a group of friends for a wedding and had booked a number of tables for the evening, which ended up being at opposite ends of the Restaurant. We were told to "sit down and stop laughing as we were upsetting the rest of his guests!" We were all gobsmacked.

Obviously takes himself far too seriously.

The food on the other hand was beautifull.

Try the Malin Court Restaurant, only around the corner from the Wildings.

Food is equally as fantastic, lovely staff and a relaxed atmosphere.

Room Tip: Try Malin Court.

I've been to Wildings a few times and on the whole I can't fault the food - last time I was there my lamb was slightly overcooked but still delicious.

Apart from being quite old fashioned I must say that the service can occasionally be HORRENDOUS. Sulky waiters and waitresses don't exactly make the experience an enjoyable one. The last time I was in I reluctantly left a tip, hoping it went to the older ladies who served us our drinks. One younger guy (I don't know his name) had a face that was tripping him, as he also had the time before. Really takes away from the enjoyment of the place and I hope that the owners recognise that this is a problem in the restaurant.

I feel that service is a very important aspect of a restaurant and would have given a higher score had there been more than two people in the restaurant who seemed capable of smiling at the customers.

We have been to Wildings Hotel many times, the food is perfect, you will travel far to better it. The menu is extensive, the interior lovely, the staff very attentive, the prices very reasonable, overall you couldn't better it. The only failing is its exterior, it could do with a facelift. To be fair the coastal position is the main cause for weathering.

On arrival, this place has it all. The views are exceptional. A beautiful sunset over Arran and a superb play park across on the green adjacent to the bowling green. Should be idylic in reality it is far from it. Looking from the outside, the building is in need of varnish to the wooden fascia and the awnings a good wash or refit. It looks tired but despite having been two years before and disappointed, I returned courtesty of a gift voucher and I hasten to add, an open mind. Unfortunately the staff again were rude bordering on hostile with the exception of the barman who at least knew how to be friendly to customers. I commented to the dark haired waitress about the weather and was ignored! We felt like intruders forcing them to feed us for free! Despite his limp, the nice barman could easily run circles round the rest of the serving staff and would do well to teach them the art of smiling, greeting guests, idle chit chat and asking if everything is alright with them! My husband was not given a steak knife and it was impossible to attract anyone's attention to ask for one. I feel sorry for the chef who obviously works hard and provides excellent food but despite having money left over on the gift voucher, I will not return. Why do the owners not do someting about it before it's too late? Superb food and chef catered for dairy and gluten free needs. Perhaps owners wanting retirement?

Room Tip: Only came for a meal.
