“April Weekend Break”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

We recently had a very much needed long weekend at this caravan park 25th to 28th April. We were impressed by how clean, tidy and well kept this park was. The staff were friendly and bent over backwards to be helpfull. The caravan it's self was the cleanest we have rented in our 15 + years of this type of holiday. We had our little dog with us, there are great walks with amazing veiws. The food served to eat in or takeaway at their restuarant was to a very high standard, generous portion sizes, great home made favourites. Very quiet, the place to go if you just want to chill out and relax. Much enjoyed.

Room Tip: We didn't have room service as this was a self catering caravan, everything else was great, just...

Just back from a long weekend break 3 nights. Caravan was immaculate, spacious and good standard. Friendly staff and very helpful. The site itself was very well kept. The bar, shop, cafe, indoor pool and kids play area all looked well maintained. We couldn't work out why we had no hot water on one of the days but a quick walk down to the reception (or we could have phoned) and the problem was soon solved - we'd run out of gas unbeknown to us. A very handy base for travelling out and about each day. Stranrear, Ayr all within an hours drive. Would definately consider returning one day.

Bar restaurant was well stocked food good quality only drawback no kids menu. Lacks entertainment was a holiday weekend and busy! WiFi available on your request! Caravan very clean spacious couldn't ask any more as was a last minute cheaply deal would return to this park.

Had a great week with Granny and Papa. Loved it so much I wanted papa to buy a caravan so I could stay for ever. I'm seven years old and loved the park as it was safe and friendly for children my age and older, and for granny and papa as well. I liked the play area, and I could go into the bar and play pool and other games. The swimming pool was nice and warm. The staff were all really nice to me. The caravan was immaculate, I think it was a new one.Granny and Papa enjoyed their stay too. But you know granny's like a wee moan, and my granny just had one. no seating outside caravan. Can't wait to talk my mummy into taking me next time. I was on my bike lots and it was very safe.the beach was only ten minutes away.

Our accommodation was not flawless, many of the drawers in the bedrooms were broken and couldn't be opened, the ceiling light in the living room appeared to have fallen and had not yet been replaced, the built in DVD player in the microscopic T.V was inoperable (which was solved when we received a complementary DVD player as a replacement), and many handles were missing from the store-cupboards. Upon our arrival we were greeted with an exorbitantly difficult to open door, which led to confusion as to whether we had unlocked the door or not.
But after paying £279 for a 4 night stay at the Craigbank chalet, it should have been predictable we were not going to stay at the Ritz, and at the end of the day, it was adequate for a short break. Nearby is a beach, which is within walking distance of 15 minutes, but to get there you must first cross a busy and dangerous motorway, take from that what you will. There are a few facilities in the holiday park, such as a very small and expensive restaurant, a sauna, a very small children's play area, a very small bar area, and a poor indoor pool, the cubicles are your changing rooms, of which are 4 and come with complimentary busted locks, so anyone could walk in on you while you are getting changed. The pool is very small and is all the same depth, 1.2 metres. Armbands are not provided so young children will need to bring their own. Swims are free though and you have to book your visits. For things to do external from the park, there is main Girvan only a 5 minute drive away, where there is an Asda, amusements, a large children's play-park, a nice beach and various shops in the town centre.
In conclusion I would recommend the park to people who are after a short break and who don't have very high expectations. Not sure if we will return.

Room Tip: View accommodations before purchase.

Hi Aaron099,
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We do believe that we offer value for money but were sorry to learn that your stay was not problem free. We have taken on board your comments in relation to the chalet and will look to improve this unit of accommodation. The pool is brand new for 2014 and we feel that the ability to book it for your own private use is a real plus point to your holiday, we will however stock armbands in the shop should anyone require them in the future.
Once again thank you for taking the time to write your review and we look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to the park in the near future.

Stayed for 4 nights on a sun £9.50 holiday deal. The caravan site is well kept, caravan was spacious and of very good standard. The park had a kids play park which my kids loved. Some days had a staff member a having games for the kids. The weather was great so we spent the days on the beach in Girvan, which was a 10 min drive the only thing different from beaches abroad was sun loungers. Great base for exploring the Ayrshire countryside. The swimming pool was not finished but we did not need it as kids were in the sea . Would definitely return again.
