The shop name was a bit grotty and hard to see,but the scripted windows looked modern and when we peeped in, the restaurant looked nicely laid out and inviting, so we gave it a go. Very quiet for a weekday lunchtime, but there was a good choice on the menu and all four of us chose different items. Garlic mushrooms in a cheesy sauce was delicious, as were a cylindrical haggis, needs & tatties and my generous prawn cocktail. I chose beef Stroganoff as my main and was not disappointed as it was tender with a tasty sauce. Two steak pies plus veg & potatoes were pronounced excellent and a salmon fillet was larger than the usual fillet & beautifully cooked. Only one of us had room for dessert and a well presented arrangement of a circular cheesecake and ice cream looked very tempting, and tasted good. With drinks the total was round the £60 mark, but as my brother in law paid, I cannot remember the exact total! We enjoyed it so much that we returned a couple of days later for another lunch, but found the restaurant closed with a sign indicating that the place was closed until 5pm, which was odd as alongside the menu there was a notice saying that lunch was served between noon and 5pm. Disappointing as we were leaving the following day, but we enjoyed the whole meal and had the attention of a very helpful waitress. Parking on the seafront was no problem and we had time afterwards for a stroll around the shops. Girvan isn't a big place, but it certainly had some of the most friendly & cheerful shop assistants we've ever met!
