“Excellent overnight stay”

Staff welcoming and friendly. Family run hotel that used to be a dairy farm and has been converted. The rooms was spacious and clean - exceptionally spotless. There was good choice of food in restaurant. Reliable taxi service if required for night out in girvan - Mccartneys 01465 712085. Great view across to Ailsa Craig. Free wifi! Very good value for money.

We have just returned from a two night Groupon break at the Woodland Bay Hotel. We received excellent service from reception as our first attempt to visit was not possible with roads closed due to flooding, but they were very understanding and we re-arranged the visit. We were given room four which was well decorated very roomy comfortable with an excellent sea view. We had a freshly cooked and ample breakfast each morning and an excellent evening meal in the restaurant. We highly recommend and will definitely return.

This hotel is a real gem, we are currently staying there and have one more night left, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, very clean and serviced daily. I dont think i have ever stayed anywhere where the staff are as friendly, they cannot do enough for you. we arrived yesterday and had afternoon tea with wine which was included in our deal. It was fabulous and the lovely waitress was so friendly and chatty couldnt do enough for us and gave us a lot of local knowledge. We ate in the resturant last night as we werent very hungry after our afternoon tea we ordered two starters which were cooked to perfection, all the meals comming from the kitchen looked really good. Breakfast this morning was lovely too a full Scottish breakfast which was really tasty and there was lots of other choices too. Woodland bay is a farm, with an equestrian center they have horses and pigs and we were shown the animals after breakfast by one of the staff which was good fun as the pigs tried to escape.. its been a real pleasure to stay here and i would certainly come back.

I have to say, this was a fantastic place to stay and eat. The welcome was first class, the room spotless and very comfortable, the location fabulous for exploring and the food, both at breakfast and evening meal, was delicious.
We booked through a groupon deal and have to say we were thrilled with the 2 days we spent at Woodland bay.
I read a couple of negative reviews before leaving home and have to say, the people leaving such reviews were probably just grumpy old men or women!
Our afternoon tea upon arrival was more than plenty. Our meal in the Beulah Restaurant on our first evening was trully scrumptious with a melt in the mouth fillet steak and all the trimmings - it left us stuffed. The menu clearly states what to expect and what is in addition to the main courses, so I couldn't see why one reviewer was critical. You have to pay extra for rice at a Chinese or Indian, so what is wrong with paying for vegetables or potatoes at an a la carte establishment??
Breakfast was also just what we would have expected - choice of cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, toast and a full Scottish breakfast - link sausage, bacon, choice of egg, tomato, hash brown, tattie scone, stornoway black pudding and mushrooms, with refills of coffee and tea as much as we wanted. Again we were stuffed.
We were even welcomed by the co-owner, Gillian's dad during our eveing meal - he owns the farm, I believe, but it didn't stop him checking with us that we were enjoying our meal. A lovely personal touch.
We'll definitely be back, as a base to further explore the south west of Scotland.
*Please note there is no swimming pool or fitness centre - but once I had hovvered over the ratings circle, it wouldn't let me leave a blank score.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are best - ask for one - you get a fantastic view over the Clyde or Irish Sea...

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights and booked using a Groupon deal. We were unsure what to expect. What a pleasant surprise! The hotel was lovely, rooms very spacious and very clean and airy. We were in room 1 which had a sea view - it was lovely. The staff were all very friendly, food excellent and the new bar area is very relaxing and prices reasonable. Can't wait to go back for another visit!

We found this hotel to be everything we had hoped barring the weather which was hardly their fault. The seaview room was really excellent, and had everything we wanted plus plenty of room. The traffic on the road outside was not a problem as the double glazing kept most of it at bay. Yes there is a walk to the restaurant but again not a problem for us. The food was excellent, but our one criticism would be that when the restaurant got busy the service was far too slow, both at dinner and at breakfast. Bed was good, slept well, no bath but a really good large shower. We would most definitely use the hotel again particularly if we were using the ferry to Northern Ireland.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are lovely and large
