My wife and I have celebrated our wedding anniversary at Glenapp three times; once just for dinner, twice with an overnight stay. They have the art of hospitality down to a "T". The welcome is always faultless, the owners make one feel like a guest in a country house.
Delighted to see that, for 2012, the restaurant has regained a Michelin star - very well deserved, in my opinion.
The grounds are both beatiful and immaculate, the setting magnificent.
I have spent thousands of nights in hotels around the world - this, for me, is one of the very best.

Room Tip: All the room are lovely, sea views obviously add to the experience

As a 60th Birthday present we visited Glenapp Castle for afternoon tea. The hotel was lovely but the afternoon tea was very disappointing and poor value for money.
We were offered a choice of tea and this came with some nice sandwiches and a while later we were offered tiny lemon tarts which were impossible to lift up as the pastry gave way. Then a cake stand came with scones and plain homemade but burnt at the edge biscuits and fruit cake. That was it! Two of our party do not like fruit cake and no other cakes were on offer.
There was no wow factor nor selection.
After driving for 2 hours to get here we felt very let down.
However the gardens are spectacular and very well cared for. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk around the grounds but won't be back for afternoon tea.

We spent 5 nights at Glenapp in August. The setting was fantastic, wonderful sunsets to be seen through the dining room window. The food was wonderful. The staff were wonderful, nothing too much trouble. The whole area was a treat to visit. Staff were so good at suggestions on where to go.

Arrived on a beautiful sunny day at the gates of Glenapp Castle we announced our arival and the gates opened to let us drive along a beautiful hilly driveway through the trees with the sun glinting through. Awaiting our arrival at the front door of the Castle were the owner Fay and two of her staff to greet us and take the luggage. it was like arriving at Downtown Abbey. Our room the first night was a large suite overlooking the garden but on the second night we were moved to a front room Countess Inchcape with stunning views of Ailsa Craig and the Mull of Kinyre. The Castle is a magnificent building in a magnificent setting, the decor and rooms are in keeping with the Victorian atmosphere, the staff are well trained and quietly efficient. Serving breakfast was a delight hot toast and tea served at the appropriate time when you were ready to eat it not put down immediately at the table prior to eating cereal etc when the tea and toast have gone cold.Dinners were excellent and it was an excellent weekend. Expensive but worthwhile to enjoy the experience. The sunset in the evening was stunning,

Room Tip: Get a front room to enjoy the views

Glenapp Castle is a fantastic hotel. Situated in a secluded position, it offers great service, accommodation and food. The "best room available" package is good value. On arrival, the staff are at the door to give us a warm welcome. We were in the Countesses Room which had a lovely view to the sea. We will be back.
