We arrived at 5.30 on a Thursday evening and 3 tables were occupied. The waitress asked us if we had a booking and when we said no she said they couldn’t accommodate us as they were going to get busy! We waited outside for 20 minutes & 2 couples went in. There is no atmosphere here it is very uncomfortable and tired looking and the food isn’t that good. We won’t be going back. Giving customers a warm friendly welcome seems to have totally passed them by!!!!

I think of MacCallum’s Oyster Bar Restaurant as the biggest eating out treat in South West Scotland. The food is invariably delicious, the service and staff friendly with a sense of humour, and the setting of the restaurant, at the end of the fishermen’s pier with all the fishing boats tied up, magical. It’s not cheap, but the price is worth every sixpence. The drawback is that it is frequently closed, so pre-booking is essential.

What a fantastic find and local to us! Great oyster bar and seafood restaurant. I had lemon sole which was beautiful. We had oysters to start which were the best my partner (who is well into them) had ever had. The waiter was so helpful and knowledgeable. We will be back soon as!

I had my second visit to the restaurant in the 28th for dinner. It was better than the first visit which had been great and prompted me to go back.
Really super fresh seafood in a chilled out, basic but fun location with very reasonable prices. All helped the more by lovely service.
Skip the high street and hotel restaurants - this is the place to go.

We had been told we would get the best fish and chips ever at MacCallum's Oyster Bar and we were not disappointed. Wonderful fresh fish cooked to perfection with the lightest batter and big junky chips and salad washed down with St Mungo's beer, served by a lovely, helpful waitress.
