My wife & I booked a last minute 3 night stay at Lochgreen House Hotel to chill out & relax after a few hectic weeks following our wedding.

From start to finnish we could not fault any of the staff, location, quality of food or service we received.

The room furnishings were quite traditional but we were well aware of this when we booked and found this a nice change to our modern home.

The food served at breakfast and dinner was of a very high standard and service in the restaurant in the evening was what you would expect to find in a quality establishment charging considerably more than the £39.95 per head for 4 courses & coffee.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel & restaurant to any of our family & friends and look forward to our return.

Warm champagne, cold soup,, bland food, atmosphere-less dining room which stank of bleach, pillows a centimetre thick, doors banged all night and no reply from night porter, very old-fashioned bedroom, no shelf in bathroom to put your own toiletries, sad fruit bowl - an apple and an orange - in room , kettle only worked if you held it down, had to crawl under shelf to plug in hairdryer, breakfast to the sound of drilling and hammering in the next room. If you want an expensive Fawlty Towers experience, go. If you want to be pampered don't go near it.

I had the absolute pleasure of attending a function at the Lochgreen House Hotel on Thursday 31st March 2011 and i could not praise enough the excellent service and quality of food we had at this beautiful hotel. It was a fantastic day and a hotel to which i would not hesitate to return to, hopefully on many an occasion.

Stayed for a couple of days to attend a family wedding along with friends & family.
The hotel itself proved to be a great wedding venue, as the function suite was set out beautifully and the gardens were great for photos. The food served for the wedding was also beautiful and everyone attending complimented it.

However on arrival our room( which was booked probably over 6monhs in advance and should have been next door to the rest of the wedding party) was double booked and we were given a room down the stairs away from the party.
When we advised the older lady at reception of our issues, we were told that the room we were mentioning was the "Premier Deluxe suite" which was indicating, that we basically shouldn't really be staying in this 'particular suite.'

After being told that there was nothing that could be done apart from moving us in the morning of the wedding were given the keys to our ground floor room. The room itself was a great size although for the price of the room, you don't expect there to be a strong smell of sewage.
The smell of sewage did not just effect our room but other friends had mentioned it also in their ground floor rooms.

The problem was resolved on the day of the wedding when we were given the keys for the appropriate suite that we had booked.

So to round up.
Good wedding venue although it can prove to be a very expensive day especially at around £4.50 a pint and £3.95 for a bottle of beer.
The hotel itself seems to attract the slightly older clientelle that like to go for a drive in the jag and stop off for high tea.
The rooms remind me of a more spacious travel inn/lodge type of room nothing special although the bathrooms all seem to have free standing baths and are nicely set out.
And to finish off certain members of staff are definitely in the wrong profession, as the customer service skills shown by them is of a very poor standard.

Room Tip: Very little mobile reception with all networks

We waited an age to be served our meal due to the kitchen being busy due to a Christmas Party night, there was no offer of any sort of complimentary drinks or any extra wine....we had waited so long we had practially finished our pricey bottle of wine by the time our meal came. I wrote an e-mail of complaint suggesting that residents of the hotel paying well over £200 for the experience were left playing second fiddle to £40 party night customers. I received NO reply, I wrote again and was told that someone who be in touch...no reply...I wrote again...this time I received an apology but there was no offer of any gesture of goodwill or compensation ! For a company that promotes itself in the high end of the market their customer service is absolutely disgraceful. I will not be visiting any Costley venues in the future.
