“Typical for a pub Hotel”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

Spent a 2 night stay at the Anchorage on a groupon deal. We paid £69 for 2 nights BB + 2 x 2 course evening meal and glass of wine so great value. We were warmly welcomed and given the key to our room 20 which is the smallest in the hotel but we knew that when we booked. We went down for dinner and the meals were very good . We also ate in the hotel on night 2 and had the chilli and fajitas which I can say both were very good. Drinks are a we bit pricey at the bar compared to the pub round about. The room was OK some more attention to detail in the cleaning would not go a miss but overall OK. We spent Saturday night at McInytres bar which was good and cheap. The anchorage didn't have anything going on either Friday or Saturday which was disappointing. Breakfast was good both mornings , toasters are a nightmare however and many people have made this comment so don't see why they haven't sorted this easy issue.

Room Tip: any room bar number 20

Went to Glasgow for a day on a day trip when returning to boat decided to go to the Anchorage Hotel for a meal before boat departed. When we got into bar most tables had reserved on them so we found one that didnt so we sat down and my friend went and got us drinks as she was at the bar, the man who either owns the bar or is manager approached the table and with a very stern attitude said he needed the table in 30mins so I asked where can we drink are drinks and I was told no where all tables were booked out. If this is the case they should put a sign up or have someone at the door teln people bar and restaurant full! Def was not happy with the attitude which I was approached a simple smile and a softer manner would have been far better! We go to Glasgow alot and have been in this bar a few times, shame this visit went so bad think we will try the bar up the road next time see if we are treated better.

My husband and myself booked in here for a 2 night stay for our anniversary and my birthday. When I booked it i was told that a wedding party was booked in and they only had one room left, which we got. It turned out that the so called wedding party was in fact 34 men from Northern Ireland over on a golfing trip !!! We never got a full nights sleep due to the noise !
We also had 3 unexpected guests in our room when we arrived ! Woodlice ! The room itself was very basic. No iron, No hairdryer as stated on the webpage . Toilet pan was leaking, the shower and hand towel rail both fell off the wall, the heater in the toilet didn't work and the extractor fan didn't work !!!! The mattress was like sleeping on a wire cage ! Full room is need of a paint !The windows ..... two holes obviously made by an air gun didn't fill us with confidence either !!!!! Please get this fixed !!!
On the up side the food in the bar was lovely and had a varied menu. The cooked breakfast was also lovely though the cheap white bread was awful ! No brown bread was available !
Won't be staying again ! Will go for dinner if i'm in Troon which will be highly unlikely

Room Tip: Go to another hotel !

As per previous reviews the room was very spacious with a double & single bed, comfy leather sofa, massive built-in wardrobe and sea view. Beds very very comfy but room defo needed a paint job, in general the room was clean although the shelving area inside the wardrobe had long since seen a duster, you wouldn't be able to use the shelves unless you were prepared to clean them yourself!! In the bathroom there was no tumbler at the sink, nowhere to put your toiletries (shelf/unit) and the shower curtain was covered in black spots which put us off using the shower. There were no bulbs in either of the wall lights above the beds so had to get out of bed to swicth the main lights off. Also, you could not close the door securely without locking it with the key. All in all these are perhaps minor complaints but I'm glad we also booked this hotel on a Groupon voucher, would not have been happy at all if we had paid full price,

The breakfast was acceptable although not great but the meal served in the bar on the first evening was excellent - 10 out of 10!! The staff was lovely, helpful and friendly all over the hotel

When we left on the Saturday there was no-one at reception - in fact, it was all closed up - so we were not able to advise the staff of the minor complaints mentioned above

Room Tip: Great views from the front rooms

bought my parents a glasgows great deal voucher for xmas but due to ill health they were unable to use it for the expiry date got in touch with hotel the furthest i got was the receptionist i was refused any contact with manager. Absolutely refused to extend voucher their reason being that other requests had been turned down good way to run a business take peoples money but refuse to budge i even asked if i could have 1 night instead of the 2 that were paid for again refused. It appears that this hotel has a couldnt care attitude no wonder is it is the least popular hotel in troo

This is a warm and very welcoming establishment. Friendly attentive staff, lovely food and reasonable prices. It's advisable to book a table at the weekend as it get,s busy. If it'a nice day then a wee walk down the Marina is nice way to blow away the cobwebs and or Hangover.
Worth a visit.
