My partner and i discovered this wee gem through Groupon. we will msot definately be returning. it is not four star but it has everything you need for a great get away from a hectic lifestyle. all the staff are friendly and smiley. on our arrival there wasn't anyone at reception but a polite notice to ring the bell for attention. less than a minute late a very pleasant girl arrived. checked us in quickly and efficiently which is what we were needing after a long drive. given that we had booked via groupon we hadn't gone with a high expectation of our room but to our surprise we were given the Macallan suite (room 5) seaviews and four poster queen bed. if you don't look too closely you can see past the few things that are needing a wee lick of paint, etc. the room was warm and comfortable. our deal included dinner off the a' la carte menu with a drink. my partner was very pleased to find that john smiths was included in this drink allowance and sapped up. the meal was good and we couldn't find place to complain in anyway. other than we were to full to do anything else but sit in the cosy bar and have few more drinks! the hotel's breakfast is very much DIY but i prefer that to being pandered on every second. only one complaint about the breakfast was that the tea was also help yourself but it had been sitting for a while by the time we got there and was like stew. would have prefered to have been brought a pot of tea to the table and the cups were just not big enough. other than that the breakfast was top notch. we ill most definately return again. very very happy with our stay. 8/10!

Room Tip: ask for room 5

Visited for two nights with a Groupon voucher. Our room had a sea view and was large and spacious and cosy though needing a bit of tlc in places. The hotel is in a good location and has a lively buzz which we really enjoyed. We had dinner on the first night which was very nice, friendly staff. Couldn't stay up for the DJ as we are lightweights but no noise from this or the nightclub next door. Breakfast was very nice but the Sunday staff need some training - no menu and we were asked 'What do you want for breakfast?' before we had even sat down. They then proceeded to have a good catchup between themselves. The Monday breakfast staff were very professional. We also had a meal in Scotts at Troon marina (about a 10 minute walk) - it was reasonably priced and had a fab atmosphere. The walk in room rates for the Anchorage are pricey but if you can get an online deal, it is great. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We had room 10 which was very spacious

Stayed here for 1 night on groupon deal. Was FANTASTIC! Ok the rooms could do with a touch of tlc, and the bathroom smelled a bit damp, but what do u expect for the money! Staff very friendly and willing to stop and help with any questions or just for a chat. Heating was on constantly which is reasuring with the cold weather coming in. Stayed for our evening meal and had the steak pie as has been recommended on here. Was not disappointed, all courses were beautiful. Towels and bedsheets were spotless, however found a used baby wipe between the cushions on the sofa which was a bit yuck. Maybe cleaners could be a little bit more thorough as the clump of hair left in the bath wasn't great either! Breakfast was just fantastic. Full Scottish breakfast with slice and potato scone yummy!

All in had a fantastic wee break. Excellent staff, excellent food great atmosphere, will defo be back!

Went to the anchorage for a spot of lunch yesterday and have to say i rather enjoyed the experience.
For starters I had the broccoli and bacon soup and it was delicious , where as my partner had black pudding and haggis tempura and she wasn't greatly impressed by it , to be fair it was badly put together with a strange tasting dipper.
For the mains we chose from the Mexican corner. I had the chimichanga and my partner had the chicken burrito . The portion sizes were massive , if I had known they were so big I would have skipped the starter . But both mains were good , my partner gave her burrito a 9/10 and this is high praise from her as she is tough to please lol .
But overall it was a nice relaxed experience and will be returning in the future ps , the salad dressing was really not nice .

My friend and I stayed here on a groupon deal for 2 nights and we had a lovely weekend. Staff were excellent, and the bar was full of character. The food was excellent, particularly the breakfast which was first class with real butchers slice sausage(none of your frozen rubbish). The bathroom and bedding was very clean and for the money you couldnt ask for anything else. People need to remember that this place is 200 years old!!! We will definately be back. Hopefully with a sea view room next time, as I did try to take the advice of a previous reviewer to request a sea view room but was told it was too busy on the saturday night!! This didn't affect our weekend though!!

This was our second stay at the anchorage - both times were with online deals. While the rooms good dowith a face lift, they are at all times clean and well looked after. The staff goout of their wat to make sure that all your needs are met. The food was lovely and for a menu with such a wide variety of cuisines they were all top knotch. The pints were a bit more expensive but the atmosphere was brilliant. Yes the rooms are a bit dated but value for money is excellent. No idea what people are expecting for such a good price and should remember how little they've paid.

Room Tip: Try to get 9-11. You hear less oise from the bar.

Got a groupon deal and and stayed there on 19th October, only for 1 night but wish i booked 2nights. Basically i got a good deal with voucher, room was average as its a shame the potential of the place could even be better with a cheap coat of emulsion on walls-but it didnt bother me, as had a comfy bed to sleep, a clean bathroom to shower and get ready to have a fantastic night in the nearby pub called Mckintyres, which was open until 2.30am. Met some nice people there and although the pub was small it had a good dj with a mixture of great music. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, had a full english. Ps/ if checking out at 11, and want to wander around town centre there are public toilets to use nearby where the carpark is next to new look and superdrug shops. Handy when your walking about and need to go. Would reccommend this hotel as great wee place that just needs a womans touch for starters. Brill nightlife! Angela. xx
