Travelled over from staying with family in Edinburgh.
We stayed in one of the lodges, which was very roomy, clean and tidy.
There was a small issue with the plug in the bath/shower, but it did not inconvenience us at all.
Enjoyed a meal in the Red Bowl and could not complain about anything, very good food, and service was second to none.

Room Tip: The new lodges on the left of the entance are very good, no traffic noise or anything

My daughter and fiancé chose the Piersland for there wedding venue and it was perfect in every way.The staff were all very pleasant and helpful from the moment we arrived. The wedding day was magic from start to finish Martin Patterson was exceptionally good at his job and organised the whole thing perfectly. We all agreed that the food was excellent both for wedding breakfast and dinners in the evening. The beach is within walking distance and well worth a visit.Rooms were all really good from cottages to superior and standard. All in all we can't fault a thing and enjoyed every second of our daughters perfect wedding. Many thanks to all the staff who helped to make the whole experience work so well.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for 3 nights as a short break away at the beach. We only booked a standard double room with breakfast (which we already thought was good value for a 4* hotel) but upon arrival we were very pleasantly surprised by the size and decoration of the room. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning and the dinner we had was also very good quality. The only negative I would say is the size of the bar area where we were to eat dinner, it is fairly cramped. The hotel however has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. It is a good location only minutes walk from the beach and a short taxi ride away from the other end of the town where you can find lots of restaurants and shops.

We will definitely be back!

I was at a wedding there recently, and found the the venue not suitable for a wedding, it was fine during the day for the meal and speeches, but once we all went out and the evening guests came in there were no seat left in the main hall. Quite a lot of people used the conservatory or outside the patio area, quite a lot of people did not see the Bride and Bridegroom getting the 1st dance, and for the people who did, most of them it was standing room only, no qualms on the food or drink, but size of venue was quite small.

An idea may be having a Marquee outside in the grassed area, as that would have taken everyone at the wedding comfortably.

If enquiring about this venue for a wedding I would ask the question.

Dear sir,

thank you for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor about us. I'm glad to read that you enjoyed your day up until the evening function.

You are absolutely right that just the function room is not big enough to accommodate the 170 evening guests during the wedding you attended. That's why we have the conservatory and the decking available as well for all wedding guests. We tell all couples when they come and view our hotel what the evening lay out is and how many seats will be in which area. Having the conservatory as a separate area where guests can have a bit more quiet seat is usually a nice option to have. Your suggestion about having a marquee is not an option any more as we are situated in a residential area and we have to comply with very strict noise restrictions and won't be able to have a band playing in the marquee. There is also a cost issue with a marquee, with the average size more than doubling the wedding bill...

I'm disappointed that you've marked us only with 2 dots for your overall experience, especially because the wedding couple who choose us were well aware of this matter but were more than happy to go ahead and have their special day in the Piersland House Hotel.

Kind regards,

Martin Smit
General Manager

Got married here on the 18th july 2013. From initial enquiry to the day all staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to pick our own menu which was great as we didnt like any of the pre set ones. All the waiting staff were great serving the wedding breakfast. All my guests commented on the fantastic food and service.
Every member of staff I came across from management, reception, housekeeping, bar staff, waiting staff, nightporter were lovely and are a credit to the hotel. The wedding went so smoothly and was an excellant day. Mr and Mrs Breaks
