We celebrated our wedding reception at this hotel. All staff were very welcoming and friendly. The whole day ran like clockwork despite our contact person being changed only 2 days before the wedding. Michael took charge of the day and he did a fantastic job. He was very attentive to all the small details and made sure we had plenty to eat and drink during the photographs. We were able to completely relax and enjoy the day as everything was taken care of. The food can only be described as amazing. We had eaten in the hotel before our wedding day and it is always of a very high standard. Every course is beautifully presented and portion sizes are generous. We thoroughly enjoyed the food we chose for our meal and guests are still referring to how good it tasted.
One of the bar staff stayed until the early on in the morning to serve those of us that weren't quite ready to turn in. She was very pleasant despite (as we found out the next day) working a breakfast shift a few hours later.
The rooms were lovely. When we came to view the place a couple of years ago, we were shown as rooms were being cleaned so they were not 'on show'. We were quite taken with a management that would be at ease showing rooms that had not been made up. When we stayed, the room was spotless. All presents and cards had been laid out for us in our room (not always the case in every wedding venue). The rooms are spacious and all have lovely views; some overlooking the sea. There are a number of cottages in the 'grounds' which are a good size and nicely decorated.
Breakfast the next morning was lovely. Staff were very attentive and there was a wide selection of hot and cold foods.
We would happily recommend this hotel to anyone whether it be for a meal, a weekend break or for a wedding. You will be treated very well.

A charming hotel, located just across the road from Royal Troon Golf Course and approximately 15 minutes walk from the Town Centre. The hotel has a number of accommodation options in the main building, and the separate lodges and cottages. Visiting family in Troon for 10 days over Christmas and New Year, I opted for the Lodge accommodation. It was modern, tastefully decorated, well maintained and – importantly for a Scottish Winter – well heated. Wifi was complementary.

The hotel bar was very pleasant. Although I didn’t dine in the restaurant on this occasion, had done so with the family earlier in the year and found both the food and service to be very good.

We have stayed at the Piersland Hotel many times over the years and have never left feeling disappointed. Our latest visit was at the beginning of January 2012, some of the deals offered till the end of March are very good, tremendous value and should not be missed.

We have stayed in most of the rooms here, the rooms in the main hotel are large and traditional, the cottages have a bedroom & TV,separate lounge which has a sofa bed & TV and a bathroom. We prefer the recently constructed lodges which are about 50 metres from the main hotel. All the rooms are spotlessly clean and have tea, coffee, hot choclate and Ovaltine etc.

The food here is very good the menu endless and if you take the deal it is included along with your breakfast . The beer is good and the wine selection is adequate but not extensive and reasonably priced.

If your a golfer this hotel is in the centre of golf heaven.

Take advantage of the deal, it's great value.

We have just returned from Piersland after having our annual New Year Break there. We usually go to places like St Anne's or Plockton but this year decided to splash out a wee bit as the rest of the usual haunts had upped their prices to about £300 for three nights. Well, Piersland was dearer in so much as they charge almost £300 for two nights. The difference was MASSIVE! The food was magnificent and the steaff were even better. There was late night entertainment on hogmanay going through till the wee small hours. The accommodation was FAB. We stayed in a small self contained unit comprising of a lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Considering what you get for your money, it is really good value. We will be back.

Room Tip: No need, they are all terrific.

I stayed here for three nights with my wife recently. had booked with hotel on phone was talked into cottage room as they are larger and were described as a suite, however they are really family rooms with a separate sitting room. We unfortunately paid extra for the worst rooms in the hotel.

Cottage rooms are the most dated in the hotel featuring marked carpets, chipped furniture and mouldy windows behind secondary glazing. The double beds are are zip and link with a big passion killer ridge up the middle. The pillows are all cheap foam with no softer varieties available which is unusual for a 4 star hotel .

On the good side the main hotel is a beautiful building and I am sure it would be an excellent wedding venue, just don't bother with the cottage rooms.

We have enjoyed Christmas Day lunch at the Piersland for many years. This year we invited two friends to enjoy it with us. Unfortunately, while the food was still to its high standard, the unsmiling waitresses really put a damper on proceedings. Taking our orders was obviously a real trial. Not a smile, eye contact or even a pretend smile. We know they work hard but we pay a lot of money for lunch on Christmas day which usually includes service with a smile but not in this case. The waiters in the past have had a bit of banter with you which adds to the day or at least look pleasant and friendly. After lunch the option of having coffee in the lounge wasn't made so it was taken at our dinner table but we felt there was an urgency to get the table cleared for the next sitting. This was a disappointment for our guests as we had told them how relaxing and unrushed it was at the Piersland .
If Santa is going to appear - as he should -and his stand-in is a slim person can you please find a cushion to pad his outfit out to at least give the appearance of the real Santa. Not too much to ask surely.
