“Excellent short break for Alex and Gloria”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

Stayed 2 nights bed and breakfast and evening meal and afternoon tea. From arriving to leaving all staff were very attentave without being overbearing. We felt that their attention was solely on us, not wandering looking elsewhere.
Swimming pool was great. Everywhere was clean and tidy in the hotel.
Food was excellent and prompt on being served.
Hotel was magnificent.

Room Tip: Room at back on ground level, although I had to use two disabled lifts, one up to one level then ano...

Stayed for 2 nights B+B
Fantastic from start to finish
Check in was efficient and friendly and gave a good explanation of the facilities and opening times.
Room was small, however was more than adequate for our needs and had everything you would need including an iron and ironing board.
Bathroom, again, was small but, again, was more than adequate for our needs and both room and bathroom were clean and well fitted.
Only complaint about the room would be the lack of remote control and when we asked about it they said they would send one up but it never appeared however this was not a major issue.
Dinner on the first night was excellent. Restaurant is well decorated and staff are attentive without being obtrusive. Food came in good time but did not feel rushed and was absolutely delicious. I can highly recommend the sirloin steak. Initially I was disappointed that there was no fillet steak however when it came it was at least an inch thick, cooked well and tasted as good as I think a steak can. It was better than more expensive fillet steaks I have eaten elsewhere (I eat a lot of steaks!).
A little disappointed that the menu on the second night was exactly the same but had the duck and it was excellent. Also, when we went in they initially had us seated in the middle of the room but offered to set a table for us in the window which the supervisor (sorry I forgot the name) did very efficiently and felt this was a nice touch.
Bar was small but the bar area was a good size and had plenty of varied seating including comfy couches but felt the music could have been turned up a little higher however I think that is a very personal preference. Staff, again were friendly but could have been more pro-active with offering drinks rather than having to go to the bar all the time.
Had lunch in the bar before we left and my partner ordered the lamb and mint burger however they had just sold the last one. Unfortunately she did not want anything else on the menu and is limited as she can not eat bread however we asked for a plate of cheese, ham and pickle with a salad which is not on the menu and staff were more than happy to oblige which, again, is a nice touch.
Good selection of drinks and also cigars and the decor was neat and well kept. Liked the idea of having plaques showing the rooms where past winners of the Open had stayed as the course is right outside the front door and it made me feel very nostalgic.
Fantastic views and good walk along the nearby beach (although this was a bit messy, apparently due to the number of teenagers having beach parties) and blessed with fantastic weather.
Used the gym and spa a few times. Gym is well fitted and spacious and the pool area was ok. Little bit more of a very good local swimming pool than a spa pool but was clean and relaxing.
A very good stay and would definitely go again and recommend.

Overnight stay with a friend. Stunning setting and we were lucky to have fantastic weather so we we're able to enjoy drinks on the terrace. My one and only gripe and it had a positive, was room 17 had no view whatsoever, but it was extremely cool, due to backing on to two walls!! Had dinner in the fairways restuarant and it was delicious, all the courses were presented well and a reasonable amount of time between courses no complaints whatsoever. Will definitely be back in the future. Well done to all staff especially the doorman a credit to the company.

When we arrived at the hotel Heather the receptionist told us that it was very busy and they had upgraded us to a suite! It definately had the WOW factor, we had a four poster bed with all mod cons including an ironing board and iron (great if you are there for a longer break) there was a separated living room which was beautifully decorated and had a stunning view of the Old Troon Golf course and the sea. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was excellent, the staff were very attentive and the manager came round every table to make sure everyone was happy with their meal. We found all the staff very helpful and willing to go the extra mile especially Heather on reception and the young girl who served tea and toast at breakfast, they couldn't be nicer.
Would definately recommend this hotel and will be back.

Room Tip: We were in a suite with sea and golf course views.

We stayed at the Marine Hotel on our way to our wedding in Ireland. As soon as the front of house realised this we were upgraded which was a lovely gesture.

Staff were welcoming, friendly and appeared to enjoy working at the Marine Hotel and this made the guest relaxed and happy too.

When we arrived in Belfast after our stay I realised I had left the wedding rings, passports and money to pay for our wedding in the room in Troon. Ann the Housekeeper was wonderful and she retrieved the items and kept them secure until we could arrange for them to be returned to us. She even got a mention in my wedding speech!!

Thanks to all those at the Marine hotel for a lovely evening and for all your help the following day.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful spa day at The Marine Hotel in Troon today. [17th July 2013] The Health club staff were very welcoming and helpful. Carly took a great deal of care to explain everything we needed to know. Our treatments were relaxing and the pool refreshing. Our lunch was good. We felt all staff went the extra mile to make us feel at ease and welcome, Cheryl even loaned us the coins we needed for our lockers which was very kind of her. I would highly recommend this spa day to everyone, we will go again soon!
