“Something special”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2011

We had an overnight stay at this hotel on their 50% bed and breakfast special offer rate. A wedding anniversary treat to ourselves.
We decided to add a three course dinner at a fixed price of £50 for both of us.
I am one who thinks "you only get what you pay for" and as a result went with an open mind.
From the minute we stepped out the car and were met by the concierge the whole experience was a pleasure. All the staff were friendly and competent. The room, the tiger woods suite, was spacious providing everything you would need and had lovely views from all the windows.
We made use of the leisure facilities, which were excellent, steam and sauna room, jacuzzi and a decent sized pool. Dining was first class too, not only for the service and quality of food but for the view from the restaurant overlooking the golf course to the sea. All in all it was a most pleasurable experience. It may have been a 50% offer, but the experience was definitly 100%

was nothing less than 100%

This was our second short break at the Marine Hotel. Once again, we were impressed not just by our room and the hotel and its facilites - but especially by the young, enthusiastic, friendly staff. A highlight was lying on a lounger in the spa, watching the sun go down by Ailsa Craig on a clear November evening, feeling totally relaxed after a session in the steam room and the sauna. Thoroughly recommended.

Can only repeat what others have said, this is a lovely hotel in a lovely location. From dinner and breakfast in the restaurant to the leisure facilities it was excellent. Also with my 3 year old with us sitting down to a 3 course a la carte can prove difficult but the staff were great, providing a barcy bag and making sure she was catered for. The room itself was huge, double bed with double sofa bed also and en suite bathroom, with a view looking over the golf course and sea. Will definitely be back.

The good lady managed to get a bargain deal on one of those social group voucher deal sites. B+B + evening meal with chocs and half bottle of fizz. So we headed to Troon looking forward to a nice night.

Which was exactly what we had. Check in staff were efficient, could be a little friendlier. Room on the first floor was large enough but the bed a little on the snug side for people used to a king size.

Free wifi in the bar was used but the leasure facilities looked a little busy so can't really comment on those.

The meal was fantastic, a creative menu using good local produce. Some very interesting fusions of tastes and textures. Wine menu comprehensive with new and old world, starting at around £18 for a Malbec I think.

Breakfast was typical fair with very good haggis if that tickles your taste buds.

All staff in the dining areas were friendly and attentive so no complaints there.

In summary, food was excellent in a typical British grand old coastal hotel.

We booked via Living Social for and overnight stay inc BB& evening meal together with champagne and chocs for £139. Room was large with 2 seater sofa , lcd TV etc.
Staff were all most helpfull from reception thru bar staff to dinning room staff.
Dinner was first class although red wine at £24 for the cheapest was a bit steep.
Breakfast consisted of the usual buffet with porridge, cereals etc but the cooked breakfast was prepared fresh as you ordered.
We have travelled alot the last few years lokkong for 4 star HOtels that usually fall short of the mark either thru servive or that the decor is "tired", however Troon was none of these and we cant wait to return.

Noticed a big improvement in quality of food at dinner at the Marine Highland this visit. Mum and I stayed three nights and were so impressed we ate there every night when we had intended trying other places in Troon. We've booked to visit again in January.

Table d'hote dinner & wine deal we got was great value - one little quibble was same menu three nights in a row so by the end of our stay we had worked our way through all the options we liked as meat eaters. Would suggest chef maybe looks at changing/modifying some options after two days.

This hotel is in a great location - Troon beach is lovely and you are practically on a golf course. The pool was noticeably cleaner than on previous visit when it had been a bit cloudy and everything just seemed to run a lot more smoothly.

Room was hot even with heating off so we had windows open pretty much all the time but not a problem as we like fresh air.

A good place for a relaxing break - in fact one of my favourites. They really are on form right now.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front and side of the hotel have the best views.

Just back from a couple of nights in the Marine Hotel in Troon. Great location, quiet but a lovely stroll into town. Staff really friendly with nothing a bother and if you check the website you can pick up a bargain. Leisure Club has everything
you would want. All in all a fantastic place for a relaxing couple of nights. Roll on next visit.
