“Very pleased with my stay”

Very pleasant and clean rooms, staff very good nice roof sitting area. The only small downside was the selection of breakfast cereals could have been wider, would have liked more fresh fruit and nuts/yoghurts etc too.

We stayed here for one night as stopover going to get ferry to Ireland. Picked because of good Tripadvisor reviews and not dissapointed. Arrived late afternoon and received a very warm welcome and assistance with luggage. Room (105 I think) overlooking main road. Thought that might be a problem but not disturbed at all by traffic noise although kept window open overnight. Room v large with huge comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. Good lighting, plenty hanging space, big bath and magnifying mirror.
Menu on a big plastic card looked a bit 'pubby' as did a lot of the food choices but we decided to give the restaurant a go. My starter of haggis needs and tatties with a whiskey sauce was dissapointing. Very little haggis and swimming in a pretty tasteless glupy sauce. However for mains we both had one of the specials, poached plaice in a mushroom and cider sauce with parsley mash and an orange and watercress salad. Unusual and absolutely delicious. My husband had a dessert which was excellent as well. Good sized portions and excellent service.
The same was true at breakfast.. I asked for oatcakes and cappuccino with my breakfast, neither on the menu but no problems and no extra charge. The breakfast was delicious with fish options which we prefer as well as full cooked. A great start to the day.
My husband had to wait for a business file to come through on email so we asked if he could stay in the room a little beyond 11 till it arrived. Again reception agreed immediately and informed housekeeping.
All the staff were so helpful and friendly which made the stay most enjoyable.
I would have liked flannels and a showere cap in bathroom but that's just a tiny thing and I could have asked if they were available.
All in all a great start to our holiday and we will return and highly recommend.
Didn't use it but there's also a lovely courtyard seating area at the back which looks like a real sun trap.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation here for a very reasonable cost, booked on the day - comfortable room, clean and spacious. The restaurant staff were helpful, food was good, informal comfortable atmosphere.

Spotlessly clean, functional but souless. No assistance with luggage which you have to drag through the bar.View was of the main road a few feet in front of the window so no privacy.Food was OK but restaurant was uncomfortably hot. When I asked if it was alright to move (away from the open kitchen) I was informed "it is the same temperature everywhere" which was rubbish as it was much cooler when we moved nearer the bar and the welcoming a/c.Staff at breakfast were much chirpier although dining area was still too hot.Nobody on reception all the time we were there so no hello/goodbye/thanks for your money.A place to stay rather than a place to enjoy.

Room Tip: Get way from the main road.

Have just returned from an over night stay in oald loans inn. We booked a deal for dinner bed breakfast cost of £69.00,we opted to upgrade our room for an extra £10.00each which was well worth it, we stayed in room 111(royal troon) which was a very large and spacious room, large bathroom with overhead rain shower and jacuzzi bath. Dinner option was two course from the set menu but we chose to have dinner off the main menu we received £20.00 deduction of our final bill, Food was nice and the service and atmosphere in restaurant was very good there is also a lovely bar lounge where you can sit and relax after dinner.
Breakfast was nice, help yourself to orange juice and cereal and Toast, the toaster machine is another story there was only one side of toaster working and the other side takes for ever to toast, please!please!please! Invest in a decent toaster, we also had a lovely cooked breakfast made fresh to order.
We had a lovely night away and we are looking forward to our next stay,

We stayed at The Old Loans Inn as we were attending a wedding, close by, in Scotland. The Old Loans Inn is a fantastic hotel, as it is: clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Moreover, the staff are friendly and the restaurant food is first class.

Room Tip: All rooms are fine as the main road is quiet
