“Great place to stay!”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

Wanted to visit Torridon area again to walk a particular mountain, so we booked a weekend where as the rest of the UK enjoyed great weather the NW of Scotland was windy, wet and grim.
However, our stay at the Torridon Inn helped the situation enormously with super rooms that were clean, comfy beds, staff were great and attentive, food excellent and the beer was well kept.
Would recommend for whatever size your party is as they have rooms for couples, families and groups.
As I still need to climb that 'mountain' then will have an execellent excuse to return but maybe I will just visit the Torridon Inn regardless!
Thanks again!

We stayed for 2 nights during our Scotland holiday. We had to change room after first night, due to previous reservations of other customers, so we "check" 2 rooms in the same period. Both rooms were clean and spacious. Although close to the restaurant and pub of the inn (both excellent), rooms were very quiet. Excellent was level extra in room. Staf has been very friendly and courteous with us. The breakfast however was below average: yogurt ended immediately, there were no enough cereals, few types of fruits, ... It wasn't adequate for the price we paid.

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased you found so many positives but we accept that breakfast was an issue during your stay. We have since looked at the service and highlighted a number of points to the team that need to be actionned. Regards, Dan & Rohaise

I stayed at the Torridon Inn for one night in a twin room (No 14)The room was very nice, clean, roomy and the beds were very comfy. Only issue about the room was the shower pressure was dire, it was like being under a watering can! The food in the restaurant was unpredictable, my starter Cullen Skink was dreadful, there was more cornflour in it than anything else but my main, Chicken with haggis was delicious. Staff were generally good especially the barman who was very friendly, breakfast was bizarre, we were asked to wait in the bar while our table was set even although there was only two other people in the room, my coffee was horrible and two other people complained about it. But my porridge was outstanding with cream and brown sugar! This hotel has the potential to be first class if they get there act together as the location is awesome and it has a great deal going for it if they work a bit harder.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you found the room good and thank you for letting us know about the shower as the problem has now been fixed. It is disappointing to here about the food. the Cullen Skink does not have cornflour in it but obviously the texture and taste is not to your liking for which I apologise. The service you received at breakfast was not acceptable and the staff who looked after you at this time have since 'moved on'. We thank you for bringing this to our attention and hope that you will give us the opportunity to make this up to you. Regards, Dan & Rohaise

We stayed for 2 nights. The room was very large, modern with a bath in the bathroom, which we welcomed. We slept well and have no complaints, although on first sight, the room seemed a bit overpriced.
However, the bar and restaurant are really great and that's what makes the place the full deal, along with the fab location. The restaurant meals over both nights were probably the best we had in Scotland, and went down well with a bottle of good red wine. Breakfast was good. There are some really good staff here and they have interesting things to talk about too.
We walked one of the lochyside walks on the little map provided, and it took us about 4 hours or so, then we spent the rest of the afternoon sitting outside in the sun and having a look at the hotel's kitchen garden and pet cattle. The midges did hit at nightime though!!
There is no other pub/shop/etc really within walking distance as far as we could see, but a pop to Torridon Village in the car did reveal an excellent (and rather high-end) village shop and coffee shop which was delightful.

We stayed near Torridon last year and ate in the Torridon Inn nearly every lunchtime, and everything was great, the service, the food, the ambiance.

We came up again this year and wanted to do the same, unfortunately each time we arrived at lunchtime we were told the restaurant was being deep cleaned and couldnt be used! We could eat in the bar! As we were eating (I must say excellent restaurant type food) we really didn't want to sit on comfy sofas eating our meals, one day we questioned it and they (although they were 'deep cleaning') let us sit in the restaurant, around other tables with the chairs up on top of them! The food (especially the steak) was as always excellent) I phoned on Sunday and asked if they do Sunday roast, the answer was yes but you need to eat it in the bar!!

We only ate there once this year instead eating in the wonderful Shieldaig Bar and Coastal Kitchen.

I only hope next year the cleaning will have stopped!

Thank you for your review. We have taken your comments on board and looking at how we do lunch service. We are now considering expanding the dining options in the bar so that people will not have to sit at low tables which we accept it is not what everyone might like. Regards, Dan & Rohaise

Stayed in the Inn while cycle guiding for Skinny Tyres! Room was superb - so comfortable, lovely shower and hot chocolate and shortbread on welcome tray! Heaven!
Food and service in the Inn was fantastic. Staff so helpful! Dinner superb and breakfast delicious!
Fantastic location and grounds! Would I go back? In a minute!!

One thing to bear in mind - the midges can be a bit fierce!!

We stayed at the torridon ( we had stayed twice before) at the end of a 4 week trip to the west of scotland , much of which had been spent camping. The room we had was better even than the rooms we had had before and was like heaven , so clean, comfortable and stylish and relaxing. The bar is great with good beer and nice food , a local band were on on the first night and the place was lively. I would recommend the Torridon Inn to anyone travelling in the area but of course it does have midges!!

Room Tip: All the rooms at the Inn seem lovely.
