“lovely secluded cottage”

Our family of 5 converged on this cottage on the 3rd of May for seven nights
This is a home from home with all mod cons and an open fire to boot
Set a mile up a tree lined drive you are guaranteed peace, tranquillity and no light pollution! You are free to explore the woods that surround the cottage but are never too far away from civilisation with the lovely coastal fishing hamlet of Portmahomack just a couple of miles away and its larger neighbour Tain just 7 miles to the west.
This cottage is not only really well priced it is a little bit of heaven in the greater expanse of what is the amazing ever changing Scottish Highlands.

“Relaxing, remote and good value”
Reviewed April 25, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

To start off with i dont believe the pictures provided do it justice, its bigger than it appears.
Get a grumble out of the way, the heating needs a bit of modernising but if you're not there when its nippy thats not a problem & the log fire (which has plenty of coal / wood etc provided) will be ample. The storage heaters though, specifically in the living room, are a bit past it. To be fair, that is about the only issue with our week there.

It is a remote location, bare that in mind, ideal for some, not so much for others. We found it an ideal base for covering Inverness to John O'Groats and a lot in between.
Having said that, there are things to do on the doorstep, well relatively, Highlands doorsteps are not the same as a City :) Plenty of areas to walk, I was full of a cold for the week, the local beach was not suited to that, its a hike up / down a cliff - there is a path or two but not for toddlers or those off colour to start with !

There are sites down the road, Tarbat Ness is worth a visit as is Portmahomack. Tain is the nearest town which has the usual supermarkets for supplies. Neighbouring Dornoch is good for its beach.

Back to the Cottage itself, the price is probably the best point for me, especially via Trip Advisor - I found the cottage on Air BnB for far more and you'll struggle to find anywhere of similar size & quality at this price.

Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful, relaxing holiday in an excellent location. The house is clean, bright and spacious with great walks on your front door. Everyone on the estate was very friendly, and nothing seems to be too a problem. Highly recommended, and close to Tain for shops, if you want that sort of thing.

“Lovely cottage in beautiful location”

Excellent value for money and well equipped little cottage on the Geanies Estate. 2 upstairs bedrooms and 1 bedroom downstairs to accomodate my two teenagers. Only one bathroom so takes a bit longer for everyone to get showered. Free wifi, large garden with washing line and private parking. Access via private single track road. Very friendly and helpful neighbours with extremely helpful and trusting staff on the estate who deal with your booking and payment.
Amazing wildlife on the estate and in the local area. Lots of great places to visit within a short drive. Well worth being slightly off the beaten track to stay in this charming cottage.

“Secret Gardens"”
Reviewed July 13, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Looking for a place to study and write for a two-week sojourn, found an ad for this cottage with nice photos that seemed the right locale. It was much more than that, charming small cottage with all you conveniences you would need, including a fireplace. The surroundings were just a real treat for one who comes from a big city; the estate is very well kept, the gardens, the flowers and trees, beautiful paths to discover and trails to the breathtaking coastline, deer and lots of singing birds. For a quiet, no hassle and simple rural lifestyle stay it was the perfect choice. The neighbors were friendly, generous and very helpful. The closest town is Portmahomack, and the two famous Picti stones are just 1-2 hour walk away, with beautiful green scenery, lots of sheep, and blue skies. Bring your boots!!
