“Peaceful and well equipped cottage in ideal highlands location”
Reviewed May 6, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We were looking for a quiet, well equipped cottage to serve a base for a week long stay in the Highlands and West Lodge did not dissappoint. It met and exceeded our expectations with the thoughtful decorating touches, comfortable beds and a full suite of entertainment options including wi-fi (which our teenager was very appreciative of). Whilst the weather was as expected for this time of the year the recommended walks were still excellent and the central heating and fire took the care of the cold. The cottage proved to be a perfect base for some longer day trips to the west coast and the Black Isle. It was also handy to Inverness and some nearby smaller villages for shopping and eating out. All in all our stay at West Lodge was one of the more memorable parts of our 4 week trip and a welcome respite between 2 very busy stages of the trip. We could of easily stayed an extra week.

Congratulations John & Helen on providing a comfortable and welcoming cottage that made us feel at home.

“Lovely cottage in a beautiful glen”

West Lodge is a stunning little hideaway in a picturesque glen and an ideal base for exploring the Highlands. The lovely renovated Lodge retains its charm and character while being very up-to-date with all mod-cons you could possibly need (washing machine, dishwasher, big fridge, Dolce gusto coffee maker, flatscreen with Sky TV and DVD, Wifi, landline - no mobile signal) and there was plenty of wood supplied for the cozy wood burning stove.
The owners are super friendly and helpful in providing all the details we needed to know about directions, things to do locally and all the information about the Lodge.
The fully enclosed woodland garden is enormous with lovely seating areas and there are lots of lovely walks.
All in all a superb dog friendly self catering cottage in a magical place - would advise anyone looking for a quiet cottage to go for this one as you wouldn't be disappointed.

“Fourth visit and we'll be back again and again”
Reviewed February 15, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

A beautiful cottage in one of the most peaceful places in the Highlands. The cottage and the garden has everything you could ask for and then some. Great area for walking and within easy striking distance of Inverness. A must go if you are looking for a break away from it all, just perfect!!

“A beautiful cottage in a beautiful part of Scotland”
Reviewed October 28, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

A truly wonderful cottage in the middle of beautiful countryside. We were so very blessed with the weather and autumnal colours.

The cottage is so warm and inviting with everything you could possibly need (and more). It feels like you are in your own little world and a true escape from the hustle of life. The garden has been set up to enjoy the surroundings with two areas of decking which in the summer around the fire pits would be lovely

With two bedrooms upstairs with master bedroom and a double bedroom downstairs with shower ensuite I would think this property would be accessible for all.

With so many lovely places to visit close by and if you are willing to travel a little further a visit to the Isle of Skye is well worth a visit, for a little bit of fun go via the very small ferry!!

I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful cottage.

“A wonderful highland retreat”
Reviewed September 14, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had a truly idyllic stay at West Lodge in Strathconon. This was our first visit to the Highlands and we will certainly be back. It is a beautiful part of the world and the cottage was stunning. We had everything we could possibly have needed for a relaxing holiday.

“A beautiful cottage in sublime surroundings”
Reviewed August 26, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is lovely, very comfortable, beautifully presented and very considerately stocked. The wilderness of this sublime Highland glen is quite literally on the doorstep - perfect for keen walkers. There's plenty of flora and fauna to be found/seen. The nearby woods and mountains are home to a large population of red deer and we were fortunate to see plenty during our short stay. The cottage would make an excellent retreat in winter (cosy log fire, blankets, etc) but its equally comfortable and homely in the summer with lots of things to do and see in the surrounding area. It's set on a good sized, securely fenced plot, ideal for those with energetic young children and dogs - but don't forget the midge spray/cream! The decked areas complete with outdoor furniture and fire bowls are also a really nice touch.

“Great wee cottage”

Great wee cottage in a quiet location; but not too far away from Inverness or other attractions. We had a great stay, again. Plenty of good walks locally and a good chill out.
