Just returned from a 5 day trip with national holidays, stayed in the strathpeffer hotel. We received a very warm welcome form Mimi, although we were over an hour late arriving we were given our room keys and were able to settle in immediately. We were given enough time to get freshened up which meant our meal was served after eight o'clock but was still piping hot and of good quality. Our room was clean and tidy with a four poster bed!! so we were very lucky considering what we paid for the holiday. The service was excellent throughout our stay with all the staff friendly and helpful, and the quality of the food was consistently good. We had previously stayed at the Highland hotel on a Shearings holiday which was also excellent, and the entertainment was better, but the staff at the strathpeffer certainly have the advantage. The only downside was no proper shower in the room, only a bath and a tap hand held spray attachment. Hence 4 stars and not 5 (I think it is a 4.5 actually)

Arrived here for three nights on an organised tour. Good trip up and arrival was pleasant as Mimi got on the bus, gave us the general low down and distributed room keys. That was it, straight to our rooms. We found the decor dated, but our room was clean (priority bed and bathroom) pristine sheets on the bed, bathroom with a decent shower, any amount of hot water when we wanted it. The heating worked really well the room was red hot inside 10-15 minutes of turning the radiator up. Food was as expected (we paid £159 each for an all inclusive stay, including our excellent bus and driver) a bit bland and unimaginative, stuck in the seventies a bit, but perfectly edible. I am a fussy eater so picked a bit, but my husband more than made up for me. All the staff worked hard and were pleasant at all times. All in all a good break for the money. Add to that there were only 22 people on our bus and one from Ayrshire/Glasgow with around the same so the hotel was not busy, perhaps this helped it not to feel feel too much like a conveyor belt. I think it might be less pleasant at peak times.

My husband and I have just returned from a 4 day coach trip staying at the Strathpeffer Hotel
this has been the best coach trip we have had with National Holidays the Hotel is old but very clean our room was basic but comfortable and warm. We were greeted by Mimi on our arrival
she was an absolute joy to meet and the same goes for all of the staff at the hotel. It is the most friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in. The food was excellent I do'nt know why people complain so much they must be hard to please. Would definitely stay in this hotel again. For what we paid for this coach trip with National Holidays I can only say it was good value for the money.

The exterior of the hotel has lost its character due to the business created in front of it with mis-matched garden furniture, dolphins, a stag and any number of hanging baskets and pots full of withered plants that no-one has attended to. The bar food resembles a children's menu in adult portions. My father was served a jumbo sausage and beans (good comfort food) but with a salad on the same plate. The interior is crammed with crap - an example was the giant pottery mushroom tea-light holder, almost at the top of the wall with gold-covered plastic grapes draped over it. i do not not have space to list the hideous objet d'art! The dining room would be fine with the tartan curtains and typical highland prints. They staff are kind and friendly. It became apparent that they are only interested in their bus parties. The little garden in front of the ancillary building, where we were housed includes a rotten picnic table and a broken pedestrian gate. This house and garden, we learned, was once a charming b&b. It now spends most of its life with a huge coach parked in between the sad, neglected garden and the damp house. Yes, I had mould on the heals of my smart boots! This place needs a serious make-over from the hotel inspector! However, they seem to satisfy their bus parties. Don't go its a waste of your money!

Very quirky hotel, owners very pleasant. You will either love the decor or walk back out the door. We are very glad that we stayed. Hotel caters for a lot of coach tours which gives it a lively atmosphere. They allow dogs which is a must for us on our weekends away. Rooms a little dated but clean and comfy. Only down side was the food, all frozen ingredients and poorly presented with little taste. Having said that would stay again as realistically priced for a bed for the night.

Husband & myself arrived here as part of an organised trip. We require a wheelchair friendly hotel and this was not at all suitable for us. Staff were pleasant & helpful & food was okay for the money. However access was not suitable for wheelchair users. Hotels really have to look seriously at amenities for disabled - it is not appropriate that one should struggle for access and have to rely on the goodwill of fellow guests for help! Help is appreciated but should not be necessary! We will not return to this hotel due to access difficulties!

We stayed in room 4a for just one night to attend a wedding at the Pavillion. Possibly the most bizarre, shabby and run down room I've ever encountered!! Torn carpets, a radiator leaking water into an old mouldy towel, broken floor tiles in the bathroom, loo roll so cheap that it was virtually transparent, a large broken spring up my behind in the bed, a random piece of cheap red lace stitched onto one edge of the faded black & white duvet cover, one pillow so flat and lumpy that it was like sleeping on a raisin pancake, a bunch of dust covered red plastic roses strewn casually across the top of the wardrobe, bits of bathroom tiles glued to the wall above the headboard ....... I shan't go on as I think you get the picture.

Breakfast was a cheap ensemble of deep fried nasties, cardboard toast and a stewed cup of tea!! The solitary anaemic sausage had to be seen to be believed!

The staff were polite and helpful and one of the managers was honest enough to tell us that our room wasn't normally used due to the level of repair required! We were given a reduced room rate after complaining but would never ever go back. The hotel needs a fortune spent on it and in this current economic climate, that may not be an option for the owners at the moment.
