We picked this place as it's local. The resaurant is well presented and on arrival they had a table ready for us as we had pre booked. Drinks order taken promptly and we ordered a starter which took about 20 minutes to be served it also wasnt enough for 3 guests as we had ordered it to share and so we had to request additional food. Bread was brought out with no butter but by the time the butter arrived at the table we had eaten it. My meal i had beef stroganoff was average and bland. My partner had the fish pasta dish which he really enjoyed though. Our daughter had cheesy pasta which she enjoyed but it would have been nice to see some salad or garlic bread to accompany it and less pasta as it was too much of a rich dish. Desserts were ok but although i asked if the merange was home made when the dessert arrived if was obviously not! One thing that has improved is the coffee we had cappacino and it was lovely. Overall a lovely setting in the pavillion makes this place but the food let it down tonight.

a very nice menu at a good price. I had the duck which was excellent my partner had the venison which was also very nice. The only minus would be the service but as the food is freshly prepared it was worth the wait.

The food is good, and the service is friendly and comfortable. We book a table whenever we're in the area, and are never disappointed with either the food or the creativity of the chef.

Rather hidden away at the rear of the Spa Pavilion, the Red Poppy provided me with a very enjoyable evening meal. (I had pork belly followed by rainbow trout.) Staff were pleasant and attentive.

We have just eaten at the Red Poppy and cannot recommend it highly enough. We chose to eat there for my husband's birthday as we are on holiday in the area. We both had 3 courses and between us had the pork belly and deep fried Brie as starters, blackened salmon and seafood brochette as main courses and the brûlée and cheesecake as deserts. Every thing we had was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and efficient and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere too. If you are near Strathpeffer this is a great place to have a meal.
