“A unique wee cafe.”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

While I can understand the comment of a previous reviewer (just) about the exterior of this place looking a bit tatty - he is surely missing the point and the unique feature of this little cafe - it is a tin shed for goodness sake! And that is surely one of the reasons that this ex village shop is such a draw. This is a place where you can have a lovely coffee and excellent cake in what is effectively a piece of village history, so if the exterior décor of your coffee shop is such an important requisite - you should perhaps stick to Starbucks et al.

As the cafe is rather on the small side it doesn't take much to fill it, and when we first drove past it was full of people from a passing cruise boat. Undeterred, we came back a while later and had the place to ourselves. The young lass running the "shop" was absolutely charming and, as previously said, the refreshments were top notch. In keeping with its previous existence, the cafe still sells a limited range of goods, mainly tourist gifts etc as well as sweets and ice cream.

The location on the loch-side as you enter this beautiful village is lovely and if the weather permits, you can enjoy the loch views from one of the outside tables.
Quite simply - Nanny's Shop is a great wee place - even though it is just a tin shed!

“What to say...”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

The service, food and surroundings are great but the look from the outside doesn't inspire. The cafe/shop has been in existence for years and years and is really quaint, but the current owners should ensure the exterior is well
maintained to entice new customers to try it. We almost didn't....

Liked the view over the Loch and the scones were to die for, as was the Gooseberry Jam. Purchased gifts from the wide show. Very hospitable and accommodating

“Idyllic setting”
Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

Tiny cafe/gift shop with wonderful views over the water. We were lucky to be passing on a very sunny day so took the opportunity to sit outside. Lack of toilets not a problem as the spotless public loos are just along the road.
Best 'flat white' of our trip and the cakes were delicious.
