We are sitting by a roaring fire in the lounge relaxing after a lovely evening meal of beef bourgignon for hubby and langoustines for me. A lovely room with a fantastic view(1a) and the staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. We had to cancel at 24 hours notice in April and rebook for October and Jenny took this all in her stride , no charges for cancellation , and a warm welcome when we finally made it.
We also would recommend The Pantry which is part of their empire, delicious scones and cakes for a snack!
Would heartily recommend this as a lovely relaxing place to stay
The Fernies

Room Tip: Room 1a has a fabulous view and a very comfortable bed!

We had an excellent room overlooking the Firth , which gave great views at sundown. We didn't eat in the restaurant , however the menu looked good and there was a good mix of locals eating there. The bar has a great atmosphere and popular with the locals too. Real ale on tap from the local brewery

My wife and I travel the country living in hotels and B&Bs as I work in the rewables industry on and offshore. All we are after is good holesome traditional food. Immagine our shock when we saw last nights evening menu. Monkfish, Escalops and a dozen other fish related foods with several we had never heard of never mind pronounce. My wife asked the advice of a fellow dinner sitting across from us what one particular fish dish was and the couple looked perplexed. We decided to settle for what we new and that was the haddock and for me the scampie. Then we saw the family of 3 leave after looking at thier menu and not ordering so we too took the hint.
I remember eating here three years ago and the food and selection was excellent. I had Cajun Chicken and the wife had Maccoroni. Im afraid they have moved well beyond our dress code and that of probably most of the offshore oil industry who would take one look at the menu and go YUCH! Fish.Fish or Fish oh and throw in a stake or two.

We spent one night in the hotel with my parents. The hotel is in the process of being upgraded and has a light airy feeling about it. Both rooms we had were quite large, clean and of a good standard. Both ensuite bathrooms were good sized with quite new fittings. Both rooms had fantastic views of the Cromarty Firth, the beach only being a few yards away from the hotel.

We ate dinner in the dining room/lounge and had very good meals. The portions were very large (too large!). Overall very good value for money.

Breakfast was again good with a variety of choices.

The staff and owner were very friendly, making us most welcome. We will return for another stay and will be most interested to see how the hotel has progressed.

The only downside is that the hotel seems very expensive in relation to other hotels of this standard elsewhere in Scotland.

A very nice hotel with friendly helpful staff. There is an ongoing programme of refurbishment so I hope that the shower without power in one of the rooms that we had will be rectified in due course.
The food was excellent, fresh from the local area and the seafood in particular is worth going there to try.
Situated on the Cromarty Firth the hotel has a superb view across to Nigg and Invergordon where the oil rigs from The North Sea fields come to be repaired and like most seaside places there's always somethinmg to see.

We spent four nights here in August. It was in a gorgeous location right across the street from the firth. The rooms were modest but spacious for such an old hotel, well kept and comfortable. The food is exceptional - the owner is the daughter of a local farmer so everything is farm fresh from local farmers and vendors (including her father's farm.) They also keep around 200 varieties of single malt representing all the distilleries in Scotland. Staff was extremely attentive and friendly, as well. It is a bit pricey but is by far the best option in the town.

Room Tip: The seaside rooms are nice but depending on how much more they are asking for that type of room, the...

This is a nice hotel with stunning views over the Cromarty Firth in the Black Isle. We spent two nights there in a "superior" room. The room itself was very nice but the lack of a shower and a very slow running bath was an issue. (I ended up using a shower in another room that a relative was staying in!) We ate in the hotel one night and the food was absolutely delicious, of real quality and pretty good value. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and they are a real asset to the hotel. The big negative for me was the price - £130 per night for the superior room was probably £40 per night over what it's probably worth. (Cheaper rooms are available but we thought we'd take the upgrade - it wasn't worth it!). So, overall, I'd be more than happy to go back and stay again, but won't because of the price.

Room Tip: Don't bother upgrading to a superior room...
