“Surprisingly interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013

I wasn't sure how much we'd enjoy a museum devoted to one man about whom we knew almost nothing, but we had a delightful visit. Hugh Miller was such an energetic and lively-minded, if comlex, man that his life touched on many issues of the day - social and religious as well as his burning interests in geology and education. The litle museum's exhibits were well presented and we thought would have been very child-friendly, and the pictureque cottage where he was born gave a real sense of what life was like in Cromarty at the beginning of the 19th century. We felt that we'd learnt a lot when we left - and I've since bought one of his books, which must be a tribute to the museum!

take a walk back in time and see how your ancestors would have spent their days at home, this is a great place to take your children and have a good wander around.

“Now we know who Hugh Miller was!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

No guide but the lady on reception gave us a full background on what to expect . Displays were well written up and a small garden had been developed as a showpiece linking onto Hugh Miller's life history.

“Friendly museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

I work for the National Trust so wanted to see the museum in Cromarty. We were not only made welcome, but the staff were more than just friendly. They gave us hints to were the clues were, they helped when my diabetic son wasn't well, they showed us the garden and talked about our area and theirs. Really made my day
