This was our second visit to Achiltibuie, having stayed there last July (2012). We stayed this year in a luxury self-catering accommodation walking distance from the Summer Isles hotel and visited this hotel on a number of occasions both at lunchtime and in the evening during our weeks's stay.

The hotel/bar - the hotel has spectacular views over the Summer Isles and a super beer garden with a good-sized car park for those of you on a day trip who wish to sample the hotel's magnificent selection of food. You have so many choices to choose from. There is a daily specials menu in the bar and restaurant and between 12noon and 3pm you can also chose hot or cold sandwiches if you only want a light snack eg smoked salmon and cucumber, spring onion and cream cheese or pan-seared highland rib-eye. I loved the seafood platter, but if you don't like seafood there are nice steaks and lots of other dishes to chose from.

Lovely staff, particularly Rose and Emma who were great fun to talk to.

Glowing praise indeed! Thank you for your kind feedback, the lassies in the bar will be thrilled to see their names up in the bright lights. We hope you return to our Oasis in the Highlands again soon.

Stayed in Matthews Cottage with a group of friends last Saturday. Cottage is situated behind the hotel overlooking the splendid Summer
Isles and the standard of the accommodation was very good. One of our group needs very plain food and this proved to be a problem although
we had intimated this in advance. Even the bar were not open to catering for a plain chicken or fish meal and she was advised to go to the camp site
nearby. They were fully booked and when she returned to the bar they reluctantly provided something for her. Four of us ate in the restaurant and
enjoyed the food and the ambience immensely. Maitre de was particularly pleasant and efficient. Coffee in the lounge was particularly lively with an
eclectic bunch of people including American honeymooners.

Breakfast was excellent although they could do with a lesson in porridge making. A thoroughly enjoyable stay which was marred only by the reluctance to accommodate a fussy eater. With our overall spend for 6 people that was not good enough.

Nevertheless this hotel is definitely worth a visit.

Thank you for the review, mostly positive of which we are grateful, I have debriefed the content with the team here at the hotel and in particular the comments about plain eating and assure you there will be no repetition. After all it’s somewhat easier to make plain food than complex so there should have been no issue in the first instance had we taken a little more care (sorry)

We stayed just one night. The hotel is in a fantastic location, as the name suggests it looks out over the Summer Isles. Unfortunately our room did not have a great view as we looked over the back yard. The room was clean and comfortable although to be honest we were a bit disappointed, because of the lack of view. The bathroom was just ok, we had a massive bath but no shower. There was no fan in the bathroom and we were not able to open a window, this was a slight problem as it was very warm at the time of our stay.
The staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. We had the gourmet dinner, it was excellent, we would recommend it. Breakfast the next morning was great, lots of choices, served by friendly staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the sea.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy the Chaplin room and take your comments on board; unfortunately this is the only room in the Hotel which face 100% inland. The team will nonetheless be delighted with your comments about the Dinner and Breakfast.

A couple of days peace and quiet at one of our favorite locations on the West coast. Fantastic food - a great selection of local food nicely presented, looked almost too good to eat. A great cheese board full of Scottish cheeses, friendly staff and a wonderful wine selection with every course! A lovely break - Thank you.

Kind supportive comments such as these motivate my small team to try harder to please future visitors to the Summer Isles; we are delighted that you enjoyed the wines!

We had dinner at the Summer Isles, on our honeymoon, although we were staying elsewhere. It came with a recommendation - although not as the best in the region. Well, we also attended the 'best' in the region and the Summer Isles was far, far superior. Despite not having a Michelin Star, it was a superior meal in every way to most single Michelin star establishments I have attended. A delicious meal, based on local produce, superb service, outstanding matching food and wine, and a wonderful location. Nothing was too much trouble - there was no complacency or feeling of the management being superior to the guests, just fabulous hospitality. We sat with other delightful guests before and after the meal, all friendly and relaxed - and they seemed to be regulars there which is always a good sign. The drive there and back was a joy in itself. Strongly worth seeking out this place.

This hotel is something special the food is as close to Michelin Star level as we have experienced anywhere. It is just a evening of delight after delight as the courses arrive with the option of also having carefully selected wines to compliment them. There is no hurry just a leisurely meal. The accommodation is well equipped and the adapted bathroom for disabled guests is excellent. The views are amazing.

After extensive travelling in the North West Highlands it would be difficult to choose a more beautiful location than the Summer isles hotel at Achiltibuie . Facing south on a fine day it looked at it,s best .We stayed for 3 nights in the tan era Mor room in the annex with a wonderful sea view .A king size bed ,spacious bathroom and separate sitting area made us feel very comfortable. An important factor to be considered in view of ever changing weather .
We chose the tasting menu in the delightful intimate dining room for all 3 evenings . A touch expensive but each evening was memorable. we were granted a wonderful table by the window ( with some glorious sunsets ). The ambience (both inside and out )justified the expense ! We were quite happy to spend close to 3 hours enjoying the fare .After all the midges were waiting outside .
The staff were friendly and helpful and in Terry ,the owner we appreciated his engaging ,relaxed ,yet courteous manner . He made us feel very welcome .
Breakfast was first class .a wide variety of choice enjoyed at a leisurely pace .Thank you to Chris for his welcome on arrival and valuable road directions when returning to Inverness . We missed the traffic jams on the Kessock bridge.
We look forward to returning .

Room Tip: Large room with sea view worth the additional expense . Facing south catches the best light. Privac...
