Looks drab from the road, but inside a great pub with an old world charm. Good beer, excellent food and a roaring fire.

“Authentic Local with the freshest fish you'll ever taste”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2012

When you walk into Am Fuaran you're instantly transported back to a time when life was simpler...and probably much harder. This is what makes the place feel so authentic to it's surroundings. The place is family run and has real feel of the family history with it's memorobilia and photo's dotted around. We were there in March, it was windy outside but in the cocoon of the cosy bar a roaring log burner was at full throttle. We'd already spoken to Katriona, the lady who looks after the food and said we just wanted whatever had been caught that day (by her husband). We were not disappointed, starting with Squat lobster platter, seafood sauce and really fresh granary bread we wolfed that down...followed by the softest sweetest prawns I'd tasted in a long time...if ever. The sugar snap peas and home made chips that accompanied the prawns were also yummy, and more of the lovely bread. My husband also managed to squeeze in a home made meringue with strawberries and cream.
The food is simple, tasty and fresh...and yes I guess you could say it's pricy for pub food...but you have to remember this is 1st class, fresh caught seafood, not messed about with ....This is not your Chain Pub 2 for a tenner deal!
If we ever go back to that area in Scotland we wouldn't hesitating in go back. It would be nice to sit out on the deck and take in the awsome views with a nice 'cold one'.
