“Remote, tranquil, great for dogs, walkers and nature lovers”
Reviewed October 13, 2010

Where to start?
The lodge was great, we stayed in "Osprey" opposite reception. Wood fire, central heating, unlimited hot water. Warm & cozy although we did struggle a bit with the wood burner but were too embaressed to ask. Well equipped modern kitchen with fridge (small freezer compartment) oven, microwave, hob, kettle, toaster and usual utensils, pots & pans. Also had complimentary washing up liquid, cloths, tea-towel, cleaning materials, a basket of wood and materials to light the fire. Brilliant. Comfy beds would easily sleep 4 adults but you would have to be very good friends and quite small people to share the living area in "Osprey". This is more traditional, "rustic" type furnished but adequate for 2 adults and a small dog. The bathroom has a bath with shower over (a struggle for a large/tall person) but with modern fittings and complimentary towels. No shaver point in this particular lodge so bring adapter for shaver etc., and bring a hair-dryer..
The site itself is remote, tranquil, small and friendly. alongside a river with a boulder/pebble "beach" that the dog enjoyed and small fish were observed caught by a "have a go" fisherman.
The nearest shop is 9 miles drive away in Fort Augustus, and it is about 25 miles drive to Inverness (see review). These are single track roads with passing places, not dual carriageways, take your time. Pub 200m Whitebridge Hotel
Beautiful, impressive scenery, and in October we were lucky enough to see red squirrels and hear the wild stags roaring on the mountains. Several places of interest a drive away but worth it.

This is the 4th time here we love the location and indeed the site but its not in my opinion 4 star or if it is its an iffy one . We stayed in a one bed lodge the tv is rubbish alough with the digital change over this will be sorted (we had 3 analogue channels ) ( not everyone goes the pub every night) the lounge furniture is very uncomfortable (basket chairs and an ikea sofa bed settee) the logs for the fire used to be in with the price now they are £4 per bag and on a cold night youll burn a bag in a night . Buy your logs from the place up the road turn left out of the site about 2 miles on the left you will see a sighn firewood £2.50 per bag . Otherwise the site is fine jason and justine the owners cant do enough and its an excellant base. You can reach north south east and west. If you like peace and beauty go up to loch killen to the end its another world.

Just got back from a brilliant week in the highlands. The accommodation was fantastic and clean with breath taking views across the mountains. The staff were very welcoming and were easily on hand should you need to speak to them. There were lovely walks to be had just outside the complex with Fort Augustus, Fort William and Inverness and Foyers Falls (defiantly worth a visit for the stunning views). This is our second time here and it did not disappoint again and is highly recommended. We will certainly be back again to Wildside and the beautiful Highlands.

This place was just fantastic. I went with my husband, our little jack russell dog who adored it and we had the best 10 days.
We chose Wildside because of the excellent reviews and we wanted a little haven of peace & wildlife after a day out. This did not disappoint and was better than we had hoped.
The staff Neil & Jacquie were very friendly and welcoming and insisted that if we needed them at all just to contact them.
The lodge - we stayed in the Osprey lodge was immaculately clean and had everything we needed.
The location was perfect for us and if it is peace and quiet you're after with fantastic views and an abundance of wildlife then this is the place
We are already working out when we can go back - cannot fault anything about it.

We stayed at Wildside for 4 nights at the start of our holiday and the timejust flew past, we wished we had booked for longer. Wea rrived at the campsite and were met by Neil who showed us to our lodge. Spacious and spotless were my first impressions. He explained all we needed to know before leaving us to unpack. We found everything we could ever have needed and the rooms were all spotless as was the bathroom and kitchen. I too usually get the bleach out but that definitely was not needed here. We loved sitting at night watching goats on the hill with a glass of wine (us not the goats). The kids enjoyed exploring round the lodge and at night we would play the games which had thoughtfully been provided. The weather wasn't perfect and we had lots of muddy clothes which Neil washed and dryed for me to allow us to get out snd enjoy our daqy rather than hang around the laundry, what a guy. Both he and Jacquie could not do enough for you and this made a huge difference. Whitebridge hotel serves good food with a colourful atmosphere provided by the locals, well-worth a try. We will be back to Wildside.

the log cabin was spotless didnt need to get my bleach out. the kitchen and bathroom looked brand new. the bedding was lovely and clean the double bed was a bit uncomfortable that is only because im used to my own bed. there was everything you needed from towels, toilet paper, tee-towels everything was there for you. at first i thought my 2 boys would be bored (age 13 and age 8) but they loved it. my dog enjoyed it best out of all of us, he loved going swimming in the river and loch ness he even was allowed on the loch ness cruise with us too. it was a great base for seeing all the sites. the wild life was great right outside our masive window loads of different kinds of birds, red squirels phesents. the people who run wildside were lovely and welcoming. i cannot complain about anything everything was perfect.
