We first went there feb 07 for my boyfriends birthday, we loved it but at the time we never met the manager, but Lodges were great and so so clean, we then went back in feb this year for our honeymoon and it was the best expreiance ever, we got snowed in and stayed an additional night the log fire was amazing on a cold night and the wildlife outside the lodges were great, Deer actually right outside our door, not much to do in the village but the pub has some lively locals who make you feel very welcome. Also on this visit we met Carol and Keith (the new managers) and they make the place, they are so approachable and nothing is too much bother, Carol even shared their last loaf of bread when we got snowed in as we werent stocked up for another day/night there....we also went there at the start of June and the weather was fantastic, sun was out and it walks were great. and yet again Carole and Keith were great. we have our anniversary booked there for feb already, these are fantastic lodges and they have everything you need.

We stayed here in September 2008. We regularly stay in self-catering holiday lodges and based on other reviews and the amount being charged for this one we were expecting something really special. Unfortunately, the accommodation was cramped, the kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, etc were quite old, and the seating was uncomfortable. We felt the lodge was overdue a refurbishment if the owners want to continue renting at this level.

The good news is that the Lodges are spotlessly clean on arrival, and welcome wine, flowers and shortbread were a really nice touch. The lodges weren't damp unlike some we have visited, and the central heating and log stoves are really great. Staff there are really friendly and helpful too. Unfortunately, the weather was just miserable while we were there, but worst of all on our first night we were disturbed by a large, noisy group of folk who had booked one of the other lodges for a 30th birthday party. These guys had been in the pub from 12 noon, and disturbed the whole site when they returned to their lodge in the early hours. Still, the following day we were told they were off home - peace perfect peace again ..... or so we thought. A couple of days later another group of 6 moved in to the lodge opposite, and the screams could be heard late into the night, and if you're in to seeing young men being chased round the decking in their underwear, this is the place to be!! It can be nice seeing folk enjoy themselves, but it would have been good if management had asked them to keep it down to a dull roar!!! A reasonable bar supper can be had at the Hotel just along the road, or if you want something special, I would suggest a visit to McVeans in Fort Augustus - about 15-20 mins by car. This sits behind, and can be accessed through, the local Costcutter store (may not sound great) but the food was terrific, and the staff absolutely brilliant. Just along the road from McVeans is The Bothy. Bog standard pub grub, and my only criticism is that they managed to ruin a pretty mediocre rib eye steak - the smallest and driest one I have ever eaten. All in all, the Lodges are great, but it's a hit or a miss with the weather and the consideration of others on site.

This a fantastic place to spend some time away from the city, the lodges are beautiful, clean, modern and the staff are very friendly. There is everything that you need for a good weekend away. I was there for a hen weekend and we had booked two of the large lodges, it was the best weekend i've had in ages and have already spoke about going back at the end of the summer.

We stayed in the Lodge for 5 nights, Me and 4 other friends
We could not of asked for a better location. The lodges are very private and peaceful, and looking onto a very relaxing river.
The lodge its self was very nice, everything you would need from towels to cheese graters. Modern kitchen and bathroom and very spacious rooms. We also had milk and a small welcome pack which was a very nice touch and personal touch.

There isnt very much to so in the area. Which was fine for us, A local hotel and pub, Nearest town which had lots to do and see is Fort Agustus. 13 miles drive . where you can take a cruise on Loch Ness, and plenty of shops and pubs.

We would definately hire these lodges again as great value for money. Just what we were looking for.

We stayed at the Wildside Lodges in April 2008, and had a fantastic time.
Lodge was clean, with above average amenities, towels and bedding only changed weekley, but washing machine and drier available for low cost (£2.00).
Real log fire in the lounge area, with wood etc provided. Floor to ceiling windows overlooking the surrounding hills, bird table in the front allowing you to view a large variety of wildlife.
Excellent welcome pack (1/2 bottle of Scotch/milk/shortbread) perfect location, allowing easy access to all of the sights the highlands of scotland have to offer.
Really relaxing and peaceful setting, there were kids staying on site, but we never saw/heard them. Otter lodge looked fantastic, we stayed in Eagle Lodge which was brilliant.
No complaints at all - staff were really friendly, and they have a visitor comments book in each lodge for you to both write your own comments, and see those left by others. We read through and can see from the amount of repeat clients that people really enjoy staying there.
