Wildside Highland Lodges
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 17, 2013

We stayed in Red Deer last week and although we had read the previous rave reviews we couldn't believe how utterly fantastic it was. The grounds, the lodge, the facilities.....and the brilliant hot tub were exceptional and difficult to fault in any way.
Add to that the helpful and smiling staff and like previous reviwers we want to keep the place secret!

My Husband and I stayed for a week in Red Deer Lodge for our Honeymoon and couldn’t have wished for a more magical, peaceful, romantic place to be.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the staff at Wildside, who congratulated us on our Marriage and presented us with a bottle of Cava. The lodge was cosy, clean and beautifully decorated. Each window had its own special view of wildlife, hills or the river. The bed was incredibly comfortable and there was lots of storage for our clothes etc. The kitchen was perfectly equipped and lots of logs for the wood burning stove (although the lodge was so warm and cosy, we didn't need to use it other than for the novelty!).
We were delighted with the location of our lodge as it seemed especially secluded and quiet.

The hot tub deserves a mention on its own! We spent most evenings looking at the stars and some quiet afternoons after long walks, resting our weary legs!

The guest information folder is very informative for places to go and walks to explore. We would recommend the Whitebridge Hotel for some lovely traditional home cooking and very friendly and welcoming staff. The walk to The Falls of Foyers and the walk near Fort Augustus - River Oich.

We would recommend this stunning romantic holiday destination to any couple or family who are looking for relaxation, beauty, peace and quiet. Lots to do and places to explore if you want to, and the perfect place to chill out and forget about the stress of every day life.
Our Dog Gizmo thought he was in Doggy heaven!!

Thank you to all the team at Wildside. We hope to see you again soon.

Room Tip: Red Deer was especially secluded with the river running in front of the lodge and a stunning view of...

Not sure I want to encourage too many people to go here, but only because it's so perfect! The ratings speak for themselves - it's exceptional having only one review of 2* or less from over 100 reviews.

This is the second time we've stayed at Wildside. This time in a Tomatin lodge. The lodges themselves are extremely well equipped, clean, and well maintained. Their locations are well thought out so you're never too overlooked and most have great views of the river and countryside.

This side of Loch Ness is particularly beautiful and it's great to feel away from it all but still have great access to Inverness, Fort Augustus, etc.

We stayed here 18th - 22nd for our honey moon, first impressions were amazing, so clean and new looking!
Close enough to travel to places of interest but out of the way enough for peace and quiet!
The views around this area alone are to die for and seeing nature on your doorstep was amazing, we had a variety of little birds and on one morning a deer a few feet away.
If you're looking to get away from it all this is the place!
We will be returning for our Anniversary!

We stayed in the Glenmorangie Lodge the location of the park and the lodge itself were just perfect. The fact there is no phone signal was a major bonus as work couldn't get in touch so got a proper break away.
The lodge has everything you would need so all the stuff we brought wasnt needed so we'll know for next time. They have thought of everything and even give you a wee welcome pack of essentials to get you started. We came up through Fort William and did a shopping there to stock up as the local shop at Foyers has limited stock but would cover any essentials needed.
We had my young daughter with us and she loved the hot tub, small park and going down to through stones at the river. There is a decent tv and wifi in the lodge which was good for chilling in the evening.
All in all this was one of the best breaks away I've had and we will definately be back.

The lodge was beautifully appointed with everything in a home away from home you would need. The heating and insulation meant we never required log burner - a pity! There is a few brilliant walks around the area, in particular the walk over to Foyers and the canal walk from Fort Augustus. None of the lodges seems to overlook your neighbours and the wild/bird life watching was great (inc a woodpecker). As a quiet getaway we could not recommend highly enough.

My husband and I are just back from spending and idyllic week here. From the moment we stepped into our cabin we knew it was going to be just what we needed. We had booked last minute for the delayed second week of our honeymoon and we couldn't have wished for more. The lodge, Justine ( the owner) put us in was perfect, the hot tub was elevated on the decking and we overlooked the river and fabulous mountains. The staff were so helpful and friendly and the lodges are very clean and very well equipped. We loved it that much we are hoping to go back in April. It is for that 'get away from everything kind of break', you won't get a signal on your mobile but there is free wi fi which is great and you get a signal just up the road at the local hotel. Fort Augustus is only 9 miles away, it's a beautiful little village. You can catch boat trips round Loch Ness from here. Inverness is also about 30-40 mins drive away its good to get provisions here and stock up because once your here you wont want to leave the comfort of your lodge....or that hot tub!!! Thanks again to everyone at Wildside.
