“Stunning Accommodation with amazing views!”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

The hosts were very helpful and friendly. We were greeted with some lovely treats, which was perfectly timed as we hadn't eaten in hours prior!

The room itself was one of the best bedroom decors I've ever seen. So much effort and love has gone into decorating this room. I spent ages just looking around!

Stacked with your usual Coffee/tea, however additionally, a nice change to have included hot chocolate and Ovaltine!

Views overlooking Loch Ness, although from our room it was quite blocked by the trees (Naturally).

Fort Augustus is just a short drive away, so that's a plus! Lovely secluded, romantic getaway, just absolutely ideal if you want to be as near to Loch Ness as possible.

Breakfast was lovely and the views from the breakfast room, you just can't fault this place. Thoroughly recommended to anyone!

We loved it!! Lyn and Tom have made this a real gem of a place to stay. We loved the atmosphere of their home - lots of candles!! The room was superb and the bathroom perfect! We had a good nights sleep and super breakfast. The whole presentation was first class and they were such nice people. We did not want to leave and intend to return!

Our second night in scotland, and of course Loch Ness needed to be included in the trip. We arrived in the early evening at the B&B, and were immediately welcomed by the owners, we got some canapes and were shown to our room (we booked the 'king' room), and it was a really very nice room with a great bathroom. We booked here for 1 night.

Small deception although : we thought we would be really at the edge of the loch with the B&B, when in fact there is a road in between the house and the Loch, when looking afterwards a bit better at the pictures on the website, we realized we took too literally 'at the shores of the Loch'..

We went out for dinner to Fort Augustus at the Boat house as recommended by Tom and Lyn, the food was not bad , just a pitty that they don't serve any food outside after 6pm, inside is a bit more noisy and more family/group orientated.

Once back we were quite tired and wanted to go immediately to bed, this although proved to be a bit more challenging as we could hear the guests next door as if they were in our room ( to be fair, Tom insisted, at check in, on the fact to make as less noise as possible at night) we now know why, the walls are not really sound proof, and even if guests make minimal noise, it still is like they're standing next to you in your room, at least for us it seemed so..

Breakfast went on quite quickly, we had to pre-order the day before, and our eggs benedict arrived almost before we were sitting down (we like to eat first our yoghurt and fruit), anyway this felt a bit like rushing through breakfast, which made that we left for our next destination quite quickly ....

Overall a place we could advice, just to beware for the less soundproof walls !

Lyn and I read your review yesterday and its content has really hurt us. We would never 'deceive' people about our location. When our guests book with booking.com they can clearly see on the map a road between us and the loch. On our website under 'location' we tell people we are on the other side of the road from the loch. The loch is only 65 steps from our front garden and it can be accessed by a small footpath.

We are sorry that you felt we were trying to rush you at breakfast. We believed that having your breakfast on the table quickly was an important part of our efficient service. A lot of our guests would agree. If only you had told us you wanted cereals first, we would have served your hot breakfast later. We would never rush our guests because we treat them the way we would like to be treated.

You are correct in that our soundproofing is not perfect, we explained that and asked you very kindly to keep noise levels to a minimum unfortunately the guests in the next room to you didnt. The soundproofing has never really been a problem as can be seen in over 100 booking.com reviews.

The content of your review gives people a bad picture of Lyn and I and our Bed & Breakfast. We are sorry if we have done something wrong to deserve that.

We would like you to consider either taking your review off Tripadvisor or amending it because it doesnt give a true picture. We are sorry we have had to reply to your review on Tripadvisor, this is because you didnt respond to our personal email to you.

As at 11th September Loch Ness Highland Cottage is in the top 5 out of 367 accommodations in the Scottish Highlands in booking.com. It has over 104 guest reviews which put us there because of our service, quality, breakfast, decor of rooms and location.

You and your family or friends will always be welcome here.

Even before our arrival we received a call to see if we needed any directions. On arrival, we were made to feel truly welcome by Lyn and Tom. They were wonderful hosts throughout with their unique blend of hospitality. The location is perfect with spectacular views of Loch Ness. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well decorated. My partner has a disability and they were quick to make an adjustment to the mattress to help her. The breakfast was exceptional. We can stronly endorse all the other positive reviews which have preceded ours - they are certainly well deserved. THANK YOU LYN AND TOM!

Tom and Lyn the owners of this fantastic B&B are amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them. When we arrived they were there to welcome us with fresh milk for tea and snacks in our room to providing us with information on restaurants and activities in the area. There were chocolates and biscuits waiting for us the next day, this was much appreciated after a full day of exploring. Their delicious breakfast set us up for the day with quite a few options to choose from. There are two rooms to choose from that were beautifully furnished, our room was the smaller of the two, both have doors leading out to the front of the house, and have a view of the Loch. We wouldn’t hesitate recommending this B&B to others.

This was the 'middle' section of our honeymoon and the only downside was having to leave!

The drive up from Troon was beautiful and the warmest of welcomes was received by Lyn and Tom. Set in the hills overlooking Loch Ness you are surrounded by wildlife, and the view from our room was breath taking! Our bedroom was out of this world and the attention to detail just added to the high calibre of the decoration-the bathroom is just unreal!

Lyn and Tom are so at ease with each other that you feel more like friends staying over than actually being in a B&B and the little treats each day were fab! Especially the mini eggs-they're my favourite! Breakfast each morning set you up for the day and Tom's recommendation to explore the castle ruins, the Loch itself and through to Fort Augustus was perfect. We also stopped off at Foyes Falls which was fantastic. It wasn't overly busy and although it's a bit of a trek getting back to the top it's well worth it!

All in all I can't say enough about our two days here-you have to go and see for yourself!! We were planning drives back up before we had even left the drive!
