“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed November 4, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We were a party of four adults and three dogs. Hazelgrove has a lovely secure garden which was ideal for our dogs. The cottage was a real home from home. There are lovely walks nearby for dog owners who do not want to venture far but the area also offers plenty of choices for days out in every direction. We especially enjoyed the wood burning fire and quite honestly cannot think of anything we would change about Hazelgrove. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hazelgrove and hope to return for another relaxing break.

“The perfect place for our first holiday in Scotland with 3 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs”
Reviewed September 17, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Hazelgrove Cottage was a great "homebase" for us. The location was just perfect for our trips to different directions and it was like coming home every evening.

We can confirm every positive statement of prevoius reviews about the cottage and the location so I just want to add a fiew points:

The equipment of the cottage was the very best I ever had in a holiday home. Everything you need (and usual you have to buy on the first days to save space in the baggage) was there - and in a very good Quality. So after travelling 3 days by car and ferry our vacation just started when we arrived at Hazelgrove.

The meal, that Fiona and Graeme provide for the evening of the arrival was delicious and very comfortable!

The garden is perfect for dogs and the fence is secure, except for our male Husky due to his great passion to chase and ability to jump very high. So to avoid every risk, he had to stay on lead. Nevertheless the garden was excellent for the dogs!

The very very best of Hazelgrove are the landlords Fiona and Graeme! If you need them, they are available. If you dont need them, you dont recognize, that they are living next door. Even as we caused a damage in the cottage, Fiona and Graeme seem to care more about my upset mind than the damage itself.

We loved our stay in Hazelgrove - the absolutely perfect place for us!

“A welcome escape!”
Reviewed July 8, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

A fabulous place to stay to get away from it all and enjoy the silence and stunning scenery. The cottage has been well thought out and provides comfortable and spacious accommodation . With beautiful woodland walks on the doorstep there is no need to venture far to enjoy this totally unspoilt area. The facilities in the cottage make it a real home from home. We loved having the wood burner lit in the evening it gave the lounge area such a cosy and homely feel. Would recommend Hazelgrove cottage to anyone wanting to escape from their busy lives. A special mention for Janet the Reiki therapist, her treatment set me up for the week and gave me the opportunity to experience something I have wanted to try for a while.
Fiona and Graeme have done a great job with their comprehensive website and information folders, cannot think of anything negative to say.
Would love to return for another visit.

“Idilic.....Relaxing....home from home”
Reviewed June 11, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The cottage has everything you need as others have said if you have dogs the rear garden is perfect and safe for them.

The Owners are friendly and welcoming , the welcome pack is hugely beneficial and enjoyed, we particularly fought over the jam and the sausages lol ! .The lounge table is infront of a window with a lovely view of loch ness, the beds are great and comfortable , everything in our opinion has been thought of right down to maps you can take with you in your car of the area. There are walks right outside the front door , we did see red deer and the red squirrel all local to the cottage.

There is not one single bad point I can say about this place.

Tips as others have said

1. Pre order your shopping form Tesco for the day you arrive or day after as your 15 miles from a supermarket but closer to a small shop but small choice in foyers ( 2 mile ) .Also petrol/diesel is a good price in inverness Tesco postcode is IV2 4QX.

2. Take your binoculars we didn't even a telescope as things might be worth seeing wildlife wise from cottage windows, we forgot our binocs :(.

3. No mobile signal at all ( virgin ) but cottage does have a payphone.

4.Trip to Portree ( isle of skye ) was one of best scenic drives I have done ......yes Fiona we did get there :). It was a bit like what I would imagine to be driving in a mini Canada.

5. Avoid kwikfit in Inverness totally ripped off on a brake and disc repair to new car £530 came back home to get 2 quotes from local garages of £200....but had to have it done driving on 3 brakes around here isn't the best policy and I didn't know where else to go for the repair.Only bad point of holiday !!!

6.I would say if you have disabilities or your very elderly then the cottage might not be for you as it does have a few steps and steep path to get to it but nothing to severe you would have to be quite bad health for it to be a problem and I doubt you would be on a walking holiday if this was the case.

Again as we are so far away took us between 9 and 10 hours from Mansfield Nottingham I do doubt we would go to Scotland again as the lake district is only 2 hours away for a similar type of holiday. But what a cracking place I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Thx Alan, Tracy, Georgia, and Amber the dog X

“A must visit!”

We stayed here two years ago and were so impressed that we decided to visit again over the New Year Period and stayed for a week.

The Cottage is well furnished and has lots of additional items perfect for self catering for example cling film and foil as well as containers for storing lunch if you`re out and about as well as a lovely welcome pack from Fiona & Graeme. My favourite is the aga which heats the cottage really well along with the wood burner.

This is a perfect base for walking and there are a good few paths that run very close to the house. Some of the places we visited were Foyers falls, Fort Augustus, Urquhart Castle and had a look at the snow on the Cairngorms (the funicular is highly recommended!).

As the cottage is fairly remote definitely worth hiring/bringing your own car + a good tip on the website is to order a supermarket shop online to tie in with your arrival. We found this so much easier then having to go shopping after a long day of travelling. Don`t forget to order bird food in order to attract the local birds and red squirrels!

Many thanks Fiona and Graeme for another lovely stay hope to see you again soon

We have stayed by Loch Ness on many occasions and decided to give Hazelgrove Cottage a try this time.. We certainly were not disappointed! After such a long drive it was lovely to be able to walk into what I can only describe as "home". The cottage was immaculate, it is very spacious, all furnishings are extremely comfortable and as we were staying over Christmas and New Year it had a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the lounge. The views are just stunning... Loch Ness has a magical quality all of its own and it doesn't matter whether it is sunny, raining or snowing, the views are ever changing and never fail to disappoint. The enclosed back garden was perfect for our small dog and the utility/dining room was very useful for cleaning off his muddy little paws. The forests surrounding the cottage are lovely and a pleasure to walk through. Fiona and Graeme are lovely people, very helpful and provided a lovely welcome pack to see us through the night (even though we had pre-ordered a food delivery with Tesco!). I cannot compliment this cottage enough, we have even booked it again for this year. We even got to see the Northern Lights from the front of the cottage... A surprise to say the least but absolutely stunning!
