My partner and I stayed at the FA Chalet Park for 4 nights just after Easter (2013). We had initially planned to stay there for 2 nights but the owners (Clive & Julie) had offered us car hop (which involved picking us up from the end of our walk each day and dropping us back there the following morning) so we stayed for 4 nights. We would have been absolutely stuck without their help as there was no way we could have continued our walking schedule without a bus or train (and sometimes taxi) service to get from the finish point to hotel each evening and then from hotel back to starting point the next day.

When Clive picked us up the first evening, he stopped at the shop and let us get shopping and supplies which was very much appreciated after a long days walk! He also gave us a brief but informative tour of Fort Augustus, and suggested where to go for a good feed and a good drink, two things very close to my heart!

The chalet was warm, clean and the bed was very comfortable with a lovely river view form the window. There was even a washing machine which is worth mentioning if you plan to carry your belongings in a back-pack as it gave us a chance to do some washing and meant that we could take less clothes!

All in all, the chalet was simple, warm, clean, cosy and very good value for money.

Both owners, Clive and Julie were very friendly and even the site's resident pheasant (Bill) was welcoming. I would certainly recommend this chalet park, particularly if you use it as a base midway through the Great Glen Way walk. (Fort Augustus was also very nice place to look around and the people seemed very friendly). They are also dog friendly too which has pleased Jessie my border collie who has requested coming with us next time we decide half way across Scotland!

Our 4th trip to Scotland and we have enjoyed our 4 month stays at the Chalets. We love the wide open spaces, the birds, Deer and Pheasants.
The Chalets are being refurbished and are spacious, cosy, warm and well equipted, we soon make our selves at home.
Clive and Julie are great hosts and always ready to help with advice on places to go and things to do.
We look forward to our next stay at Fort Augustus Chalet Park.

This is actually the second time we have stayed here, from the outside it probably leaves somewhat to be desired but the chalet we stayed is had been renovated and is very comfortable, warm and equiped, we like the birds and the wildlife and if you like this then it is a shame there is no bird feeders about ( we sorted our own out and really enjoyed watching the birds ), Julie and Clive are lovely people honest down to earth human beings, and it s got to be said last year I phoned Julie and asked her could we come two days early , I phoned her about midday , and she said well your chalet is not quite finished give me as long as you can and that will be fine ( this was the year our chalet was renovated) , we probably were a little unfair because we then arrived about 4.30pm , but you know Julie was fantastic , we left our luggage and went out for tea, she worked her socks off to get our chalet ready for us, there's not a lot of people would have done that, for which we were eternally grateful, nothing is too much trouble , it s basic in places yes but the fundamentals are there, it,s clean, warm and dry and Julie and Clive are lovely helpful people , we,ll certainly be back.
As for the electric being expensive, what a lot of people forget most of us south of the border heat our homes by gas which is a lot cheaper than heating by electric, there is very little if any mainline gas up here and it does add to your bill , you have to remember to budget for this

We stayed here and it was perfect. We have three children and they loved every minute. It was safe, friendly and a beautiful part of Scotland. A Place we will visit again. Clive and Julie the owners were fantastic and could not do enough for you. The park is very well located and a perfect affordable base to explore the area and access the isle of sky. We would recommend and re visit again.

This was our first visit to Scotland and we couldn't have been happier with our accomodation. The Chalet Park is situated within walking distance to local shops, pubs and restaurants. The facilities were great, the chalet was clean and comfortable and in a lovely quiet area. It's a great place to stay if you want to explore Loch Ness and the surrounding areas. Clive and Julie were very friendly and helpful and gave us some great suggestions of places to go during our stay. Great experience, couldn't recommend this highly enough!
