“Lovely accomodation and the warmest welcome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

The Kettle House is a lovely B&B about a 15 minute walk/couple of minutes drive from the centre of Fort Augustus.

Natalie and Mark are both really welcoming and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The house is beautifully done, everything is very, very clean but not to the point where you feel you can't relax. The grounds of the house are really lovely and we were lucky enough to see the sun and sit it the gardens between the rabbits and guinea pigs (which kids would love). Breakfast was great and a good choice was on offer. The facilities in the room are much better than average for a B&B with a TV/DVD, ironing facilities etc. There's a range of DVDs and board games.

I can't fault anything with this great value accomodation and would reccommend it to anyone. Natalie and Mark are great hosts and hopefully their business will continue to thrive.

Fort Augustus is a quaint town on the lower end of Loch Ness. The Corinthian Canal ends here. It's a great stopping point. Kettle House made a great first impression. A bitterly cold day in Scotland, but a lovely warm welcome from Natalie. Excellent, large room with views over the golf course. Heating turned on to ward off the chills. Fresh milk in the fridge, homemade cake, plates and cutlery if you were having a take-out. Really comfortable bed and quality linen. Nice shower room. Plenty of books , DVDs and games to use. Very nice garden area, if the weather was kinder. Free wifi, plenty of parking. A 10-15 walk into town, but not a problem.
Lovely freshly cooked breakfast.
Highly recommended. Everything spotlessly clean. Well thought out property. A pleasure to stay.
Would highly recommend.

Hi there, Many thanks for giving us a great review. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we have had some cold days in May so its always good to have a warm room to arrive to on days like that. So chuffed you enjoyed the cupcakes and noticed our wee homely touches. Yes it is about a 10-15min walk into Fort Augustus from us and is a straight walk all the way and we are so happy that this was fine for you as we know we aren't in the centre of Fort Augustus but feel that its so much nicer to walk to a place as you get to see more of the area that you wouldn't see if you were right in the town. Glad you liked Marks breakfasts. Thank you so much and hope to see you again. Many thanks Natalie & Mark

Arrived after alond day cycling down from inverness and found everything and more you would expect from a B&B, Very clean, warm and welcoming. House set in beautiful relaxing grounds with long drive set well back from the road, this ensured a quiet night sleep. Mark and Natialie couldn't have done more, home from home.

One of the best B&Bs we've stayed at. Natalie was really friendly and there were some really thoughtful touches when we arrived such as cup cakes for us and a few treats for our dog. Very welcome after a long drive. The building is in a lovely setting and the rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was fantastic. We would definitely stay again if pasing that way and would recommend to others.

Hi Warren, Many thanks for your review. We are glad you liked the cupcakes and couldn't leave your dog out! Great to meet you and your family and the dog. Think he was one of the biggest dogs we have had and he was as good as gold. Hope the drive back wasn't too long and thank you once again. Many thanks Natalie & Mark

We were at Kettle House B&B with our 2 children (4 and 2.5 years old). We had a comfortable room with a double bed and a single children bed, with place remaining for the baby bed. The bathroom (with a shower) was clean and provided what we needed. In addition to that, the house is in a quiet location and near the center of Fort Augustus where Nathalie indicated us a place to eat.
In the morning, the breakfast was tasty, abundant and Nathalie proposed a large choices of food. The children have played with the toys and colour pencils that Nathalie nicely provided.
To sum up, we had a great time at Kettle House B&B and we will recommand it to friends or come back if we can.

Location, location, location. This is a beautiful old building in an idyllic position. We cannot commend this B&B highly enough.
We had a charming welcome from Natalie who showed us to our lovely clean room with views over their very special garden to the golf course beyond. Many thoughtful touches added to our enjoyment of our stay, the fresh milk and delicious cupcakes along with Mark's beautifully cooked and presented breakfasts to name but a few. We had our dog Flora with us and while many B&Bs claim to be 'dog friendly' we find they are merely dog tolerant - Kettle House truly is dog friendly.
Luckily we had sunshine during our stay but the DVD selection had something for everyone if stuck indoors.
Leaving our car at Kettle House we had a lovely walk along the Caledonian Canal into Fort Augustus, (15 mins), a most interesting and picturesque spot at the bottom of Loch Ness. Here we found a few shops and eateries along with many photo opportunities of the yachts travelling through the five rise locks on the canal. Trips on Loch Ness leave from here although we chose to walk on the Great Glen Way to Invermoriston, a gorgeous wooded walk with views of Loch Ness en route (7 miles approx). Once at Invermoriston we loved the waterfalls and old bridges (more photos) we found a pub for a well deserved drink before catching the bus back to Fort Augustus and our evening meal in The Bothy.
