Morags Lodge is an excellent hostel, we stayed out of season and recieved a warm welcome, the place was really cosy and warm as it was pretty cold outside! The rooms are very clean with en suite power showers. We had one of the newer rooms and it was perfect. The kitchens and eating areas are kept really well and they serve good food at reasonable prices. The bar is cosy with an open fire and they even provide local entertainment on some evenings with local singers.
Fort Augustus is a quaint village in a beautiful setting and I would much prefer it to Fort William but it is only 40 minutes away and there is a local bus to get you there. There are loads of walks by the canal, boat trips in the season on the lough. Fort Augustus has a few nice local bars with 'The Bothy' serving the best pub grub. Would highly recommend a trip to this beautiful place in the highlands and it introduces you to the real scotland. To hire a car would be great as you get to see so much more but haggis tours are also available. Ned does a good show on the clansmen of scotland which gives you some history on both the life and the famous scottish kilt. Go and enjoy!
