We stayed at the Inch Hotel towards the end of August 2013, we booked the honeymoon suite as this was the only room available on the first night we stayed here, we moved to a standard room for the second night, when we arrived in the room we were surprised that this was supposed to be the best room in the hotel, although it was comfortable it certainly wasnt up to the standard you would expect for £130 per night, i have stayed in better superior rooms than this, the furnishings were very old fashioned and needed upgraded, althought the bathroom had been upgraded we found a problem with the water supply, when we turned on the hot water taps we were treated to rusty bits coming out of the tap, we let it run for 10 mins but were still getting rusty bits running through, not impressed at all, I then discovered that the shaver point wasnt working, i reported to the duty staff about these problems and they were sorted out later that evening, the manager told us the following morning that the boiler had broken down and this had created the rust coming through the taps when the engineer had worked at it ??? As there was no power to the shaver point they rectified it by leaving me a extention lead to plug my shaver in, not great but it worked. As I said my second night was in a standard loch view room priced at £85, well , talk about needing upgraded, everything in the room was ancient including the bed, would you believe that the bed legs were propped up by books, obviously this was covered up by the quilt but we noticed it when we noticed the bed had a slight tilt in the middle and looked beneath to see why, as for the bathroom, well very basic and old , the bedroom carpet also needed replaced as it had seen better days, the only good thing i can say about the hotel was that the breakfast was first class, a well done to the chef, as for another stay at the Inch, NO WAY !!

Stayed here with my wife, son and his fiancé for one night. In general, the hotel has old fashion appeal but needs some renovation and a lick of paint. Location is ideal and offers great views on to Loch Ness and surrounding area. Rooms were adequate for our one night stay but toilet & shower was on the cramped side. Food we all enjoyed and had no complaints. Service was very efficient when available (at times understaffed).
Nothing about the hotel would prevent me from returning but in my opinion would need modernised/refreshed before I felt comfortable about recommending it to anyone.
I have rated it 3 stars but 3 1/2 would be nearer the mark for me!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the first floor facing the loch.

When checking in we asked for a child cot and we had it in the room even before we got up there. The receptionist (who also does the waitress and the bartender) is very helpful and efficient! When we got to our rooms we found out there was a water soaking through the ceiling. Water pipe trouble. The manager solved the problem by giving us another two rooms. The best rooms in the house with enormous beds, fire place and beautiful bathrooms.
Lovely dinner and breakfast. Lake views.
2 minutes drive from Fort Augustus.
We had a great stay.

A very disappointing experience, if we hadn't already paid in advance for our 4 night stay we would have left after day 1. We thought we had landed in some far Eastern European outpost instead of Scotland. The staff are very elusive and were not very interested. We had paid for a premier room with loch view, we got a strange room on the second floor (no lifts) with a very small attic window that was partially blocked by the television screen. So much for our loch view! We did get a large bed, but it was very uncomfortable and well past it's use by date. Actually most of the hotel is past it's use by date and is in desperate need of a renovation. The bathroom was quite grotty, with mould around the edge of the bath, no tiles on the walls just some kind of weird black vinyl wallpaper. No storage in the bathroom either.

We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night which we found a bit disappointing. What could have been quite a smart restaurant was let down by the laminate table tops, white tablecloths would have made a huge difference to the overall effect. The food was okay, ordinary but a bit over-priced and the menu was very limited. Breakfast was included in the tariff and was quite good. Don't know why the cooked breakfast was served in large soup plates ........ very strange!

The hotel has an unloved look from the outside with long grass and no garden, no nice touches here, quite bleak. The inside is that of a dilapidated country house in need of some TLC. How Tripadvisor could award this hotel in consecutive years, 2012 & 2013, a 5 star winning category is beyond belief!!!!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room on the first floor in the front, if you really must stay here!

The Inch has a great location just on the north side of Fort Augustus and has beautiful views over the loch. All bedrooms at the front have this great view but those at the back would simply be onto trees!
The staff are reasonably friendly but very elusive, you have to ring bells to get attention and we were left waiting for breakfast for a few minutes before anyone came to see if there were any guests (this was at 9am so not early). Breakfast is good and there are the usual options available.
The downstairs public areas can get away with being described as 'rustic country' but the same does not apply to the tired and dated bedrooms. Unfortunately the beds aren't comfy and squeak at even the thought of rolling over! The bathroom was old fashioned and untouched since the dawn of time! The extractor fan makes you think you are standing next to a jumbo jet!
There is a rather strange arrangement of towels on the bed (far more useful in the bathroom I would think!) but the room has everything you need for a short stay including teas and coffee etc.
All in all a decent stay and a fabulous location but not the best night sleep!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front for Loch Ness views

All food was to a high standard.
Staff were polite and attentive.
The room that I stayed in was recently decorated to a good standard and very comfortable.
I had a 2 night stay on business and would recommend this hotel.
