Fabulous food (cullen skink and the cranachan were particular highlights), comfortable room (I was lucky enough to have a spectacular view of the loch) and friendly staff. This was a business trip but I would love to come back and share the experience with my family.

We stayed here after buying with KGB deals, this was a present for my boyfriend and we (both 21 at the time) went midweek with our spaniel Marley. Must admit we were worried after reading the reviews but all I have to say to the people complaining about decor is grow up! For us that was the best part! Who wants to go all the way to the highlands and stay in a hotel that looks like your in the city? The inch is quaint with authentic Scottish themes and we loved it! The other plus side was that they allow dogs for an additional charge which is great, what better place to go walking all day with an active cocker spaniel! We stayed for two nights and breakfast was lovely both days with plenty of choice. We even ventured along to Inverness for the day which was fab. We had a front facing room which had amazing views and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially curling up in the lounge after a cold day out. Fort agustus is about a 5min walk away with lots to see including some chickens! shops and pubs etc down there are great! We would love to go back sometime.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view! You can email before you go and the staff are really helpful

Oh thank you, thank you. You completely got what we are all about! It's just a delight for the team that you enjoyed your stay so much. You will be glad to know we are shortly reopening after decorating the house, having being meticulous about adding to the Scottish authenticity rather than detracting from it. We removed 50 years of paint to get back to the original wood in some areas! Very much hope to see you again sometime - it was a pleasure to serve you. Warm wishes from the team.

A couple of days away before the exitement of Christmas at this hotel overlooking the famous Loch Ness turned out to be a good choice. A warm welcome from the manager on a very cold day was the first impression. The room was perfectly adequate and warm, even though a little dated in the decor department. The room heater is a wall mounted electric convector heater with perfect control. We ate at the hotel on both evenings and the food was superb, although the restaurant was a little basic in atmosphere but this didn't detract in any way from the quality of the food. Before eating, we sat in front of a wonderful log fire with a nice drink. This room accross the coridoor from the bar was a little bit more inviting than the bar it self, but at least the bar is small and no doubt this will make it cosy when there are more guest to fill the air with chat. Breakfast was eaqualy satisfying and plentyful. The management were always at hand and obliging without being "in your face!" We would now like to return in the summer, in hopefuly warmer conditions so I could sample a nice pint while sitting outside in the garden, drinking in the views and ambiance of the surrounding countryside.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra and go for the lake view rooms

Thank you for such a great review. Everyone works so hard and it's super when someone like you takes the time to comment - greatly appreciated. The decor has been updated since your stay (the new photography collection is awesome!) I look forward to seeing you in the summer, and hope to join your for that sundowner on the terrace. Best wishes from us all.

We went stayed at The Inch on a coupon deal for one night. The deal included a bottle of wine which they let us have with our evening meal. The hotel was in a lovely setting overlooking Loch Ness, when we arrived it was a very snowy afternoon at the beginning of December which just added to the beauty of the building and surroundings. We had a gorgeous warm and cosy big room with lovely heavy old furniture and a big comfy bed, a flat screen tv and plenty tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The evening meal was fab from a menu with a great choice at reasonable prices for a hotel restaurant. There was a nice library area where we had a brandy after dinner looking out of the massive front windows onto the snowy night. Breakfast the next morning was full Scottish with also the usual choice of cereals, fruit and yoghurt etc. The staff were friendly and the hotel is in perfect position to explore Loch Ness.

Room Tip: ask for a loch view, although all the rooms looked nice :)

Thank you for such a lovely review - all the staff feel really good and glowy when someone writes something so nice. Glad you got a snowy break - we haven't had much up here so far, despite everywhere else being blanketed. Maybe we are developing a micro climate? Your brandy comment gave me an idea - I think I shall enjoy the same tonight! Many thanks again for being such charming guets.

We stayed at the Inch for 3 nights over Christmas. The owner, Alan, is extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent. The hotel is extremely dog friendly and we felt very at home. The setting is lovely and we enjoyed the most wonderful walk overlooking Loch Ness directly from the hotel. The storying tellling and personal tour offered by Scott were memorable and the rib ride on the Loch on Boxing Day spectacular.

The hotel does need an upgrade and I understand this will be happening in January. We were in a family suite (Room 15) on the second floor. It was spacious and quiet. However, the bathroom needed attention and there is no heating. There are three beds in this suite, one small double, a normal double and a single. The normal sized double bed was extremely uncomfortable (I could feel the springs). The furniture is quite shabby, the TV did not work and the tea/coffee making facilities looked unstable.

The restaurant is a little arid in terms of decor and the bar uninviting. The lounge could be lovely but unimaginative furniture spoils the look. The Christmas decorations were rather tacky and the tree artificial. The original staircase is gorgeous and the tartan carpet in the entrance hall/lounge appropriate.

Marian, (front of house and bar) is very good and the drinks service very good. The whisky tasting and piper on Boxing Day were a nice way to end our Christmas Break..

Despite the above negative comments, we had an excellent time. Normally, I would not have stayed at the Inch having seen our Suite. However, the warmth of the welcome, the friendliness of the other guests, the hospitality of the owner and the quality of the cuisine won me over. Our family of three (including a 16 year old) really enjoyed our stay. We felt comfortable at the Inch. You can relax there and be yourself. It felt like a home from home, espcially with our dog. The location is lovely and the Highlands are fantastic. There are only 14 rooms and some of the rooms were occupied by members of the Owner's family. This made the occasion seem like a family Christmas to which we had been invited. A lot of the other guests had been before and we felt very much part of the festivities.

Hopefully, the decorators will work their magic!

Well hello, hello again! Thanks for such a thorough review. It was a real pleasure to have you and the family here for Christmas. Wasn't the Loch simply stunning the day we took the boat out? We were blessed that day, for sure. We are so glad you enjoyed the experience.

It's a 'fair cop' to your comments about decor. The only one I am confused about is the TV - we have a reserve supply of them, so you should have had an instant replacement? To reassure you, work has already started. The top floor has already been stripped out (it looks like a bomb site today!) First stage is cabled internet throughout, then we are decorating, adding and replacing furniture and have over 160 specially commissioned landscapes to hang!

I personally tested the mattress in room 15 and, you are right, it failed the 'bum test.' A new one has been ordered for that bed, and a few more that also 'failed.'

I hope you might have the chance to visit again. This redecoration is the last stage in four years' of investment and development of the Inch. The big things like the roof, fire alarm, wiring etc. did not really add to the guest experience, but were neccessary, and large capex items. This stage, however, should just add those little touches that bring something extra to your visit, without losing the informal feel that many of our guests appreciate so much.

Hope there were no floods in your part of the world when you got back, and thank you again for being such charming company for us and the other guests over the Christmas period.

Regards from Marian, Mihaela, Paul and the rest of the team.

We have a very pleasant stay at Inch Hotel despite the cold weather. The hotel is surrounded by very nice view of forest and also loch. Manage by friendly and obliging personnel which is a plus point. The room rate is inclusive of breakfast - 60 S Pound. The rooms that we stayed in are not very large. The rooms have name like "Laggan" instead of numbers..

Thank you so much - we simply adore the title to your review, as this is what we try to achieve. If a little of this spirit enhanced your stay, we are simply thrilled.
