having just returned from an over night stay with my husband at The Inch Hotel only one word to describe it ....FANTASTIC... from arrival to leaving the staff were excellent ... the food amazing ( goats cheese is now on my list to have again as this was the first time i had ever tried it!).Hotel in itself is beautiful, very inviting, relaxing and if you are looking for cosy this is the place to go. Ignore the negative comments from other reviewers as they have been NIT PICKING (it is Scotland .. Rain does make the windows dirty and in Scotland we get a lot of rain and am quite sure we dont all clean our windows every other day!!) so to speak.....we will be back again but for more than one night next time.

Nice location & large, clean rooms. The hotel had a homey feeling and our party felt very comfortable there, The staff were polite and pleasant. Dinner and breakfast were very good. As mentioned in another review, the paintwork and other bits and pieces could use a bit of a tidy up (nothing too serious) and the windows could use a clean. The headboard in one of the rooms we had was not attached to the bed and kept bumping against the wall. I understand that this is a dog friendly hotel but the dog of one of the locals who appears to frequent the bar ran about all evening continually trying to be our friend which was slightly annoying (not to mention the local who felt he had to put his two cents in when we were making inquiries of the staff). Value for money this hotel is far better than others we've stayed at for the same price therefore the 'very good' rating.Overall we had an enjoyable overnight stay.

We have stayed at the Inch at least four times over the years and always take the opportunity to go back, even if its slightly out of our way, for at least one night. Yes, there is no lift, yes, the stairs are a bother carrying luggage, but its still a great place. The present innkeeper, Marian, was there our previous visit when Nick and Stephanie were managing, and he is carrying on the tradition of gracious hospitality and good food.

Remember, their prices don't change; it's our dollar that is the problem here and everywhere in the world

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Loch Ness. You may get a glimpse of Nessie!

A very warm welcome, polite staff, well situated, just outside Fort Augustus with amazing view of the Loch, room good size, bathroom clean and freshly painted, but the rest of the hotel that we saw was in a very sorry state, dirty windows and peeling paint, rather dark and just in need of a bit of an update and some loving restoration, which we believe is in hand? Really enjoyed both evening dinner and breakfast and all in all would definitely return if the place was given a good clean and fresh paint!

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view

We went to the Inch for our evening meal on our daughter's wedding day and it was a superb experience. The staff were polite, efficient and very friendly. The food was amazing, the starters being a meal in themselves. Although ours was a large party the service was just right we did not feel rushed but never had long to wait between courses. The view from the dining room was beautiful and I would recommend this venue to anyone who wanted a special evening meal. Thank you to all involved.

After reading some of the negative points on here, I was understandably concerned, about what I was walking into, however I shouldn't have worried, because our stay at the Inch was lovely.
The staff were very pleasant, accomadating and looked after all the family exceptionally well.
The house itself is beautiful, over 150 years old, I can see why it may not appeal to those travellers who are more used to the sterile and purpose built chains, an old house has old house charm complete with creaky floorboards and eclectic ceilings !
Our room was very clean and wonderfully comfortable, the bed took me, 2 kids and a dog, it was that big and the bathroom had obviously been recently modernised.
Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, although I would expect proper napkins rather than 2ply paper napkins.
With wonderful views over Loch Ness, a few minutes away from Fort Agustus, I would definately stay here again and recommend to friends.

Thank you for such a lovely review. It really is great for the staff team when someone like you takes the time to be kind. We're extra glad the dog had a good time - it's what a good hunting lodge is for! Best wishes.
