“First Class, excellent! We loved it!”
Reviewed August 10, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

The apartment is beautiful in every way. It was our first visit to Scotland and definitely will not be our last. Mark and Laurie attended to every last detail and requirement that we had prior to our arrival and gave us all the help and advice we needed for a superb holiday.
We cannot recommend their apartment highly enough other than to say, we will be back and we have shared our photos and experience with everyone we know.
Thank you both very much and we hope to be back when we next come up to Scotland. x

“Even better second time around!”
Reviewed May 3, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

This was our second stay at the property, this time for our honeymoon. When we decided to go to Scotland for our honeymoon we immediately thought about a return visit to the Boys Dormitory, luckily it was available. The property was even better than the first time with the addition of two huge comfortable sofas to sit and enjoy the amazing view up Loch Ness.
The apartment is fitted out to a high specification with everything you could need including a lot of extras you wouldn’t get elsewhere; a large DVD library, books, magazine, tea, coffee, sugar and milk. You just need to pack your clothes and turn up!
The pool, sauna and steam room were not open last time we visited and were a good addition to the trip, although the changing facilities are not adequate for the number of people allowed in at a time, they barely fitted 2 people let alone 14, the best thing to do is go ready changed.
You do need to be relative fit to cope with the four flights of stairs to get to the apartment but remember it is definitely worth it for the view up Loch Ness.
If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable, luxurious apartment in an excellent location then I would be surprised if you could find better.

“Outstanding”
Reviewed April 29, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We stay at many self-catering establishments and we always look for something special and out of the ordinary, so even the names "monastery" & "boys dormitory" gave the clue that this was to be something different and worth trying. We were not to be disappointed and in fact our four night stay in March was definitely spent in the best self-catering accommodation we have experienced so far.

The trek up the stairs is a bit of a slog (we are in our early sixties) but once through the door you are in for a surprise. Not only is the accommodation open plan but at 154 sq.m approximately it is also huge. The furnishings are of the highest standard and cleverly in keeping with the unique architecture of the building. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you require and the heating is efficient.

The lounge area is so relaxing, made all the more fascinating by the view over the loch through the stunning windows. The modern TV is discreetly hidden away in a period piece of furniture. The provision of wi-fi for us is a definite requirement and yes that was there too! The bedroom was equally luxurious and spacious and of course the other amenities of the complex are there for you to use such as the pool, tennis courts, playground, communal lounge with snooker table etc.

The tips in the accommodation's information book are worth taking note of when you arrive. We had a fabulous meal at the Dores Inn thanks to that for example.

All in all a fabulous stay and well located for sight seeing, fabulous scenery, boating, walking and historical places to visit. We will certainly be back!

“Fantastic Place and Spectacular Views”
Reviewed April 28, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

I first stayed here 3 years ago so i knew what to expect, this time i took my wife with me and would go again. We stayed in the boys dormitory and i feel this has the best view on the whole complex, Fort Augustus is a lovely place very quiet in march, if you want some relaxation time and stunning views this break is a must do. 5 stars without a doubt.

“Magical”
Reviewed April 26, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We stayed a the Boy's Dormitory for a week this April for our first trip to Scotland. It was the best experience we have ever had in all of our years of traveling. The location at the foot of Loch Ness was gorgeous. The property was so serene and beautiful we could have stayed there all week and been happy! The rooms themselves were immaculate and beautiful, comfortable and homey... Mark & Laurie have provided every possible thing you can think of to make a stay here comfortable and enjoyable. We had everything we could need from a welcome bottle of wine to fluffy bathrobes... It was better than we had even imagined it would be. Thank you! We will not hesitate to stay again on our next visit.

“Completely fabulous!”
Reviewed April 17, 2013 for a stay in January 2013

I've visited Scotland 3 times and have stayed in several self catering and B&B's. I can honestly say that the Abbey and the Boys Dormitory is by far and above the BEST place I've stayed. I spent 10 nights there and did not want to leave.
The apartment view is well worth the climb up the stairs. The view is beyond spectacular. There's nothing better than sitting with a cup of tea and shortbread and watching the rain or snow on Loch Ness from that gorgeous arched window in the main room.
Every amenity is provided and the decor is really comfortable and lovely. I felt at home the moment I walked in the door.
I got the wi-fi to work in the apartment most of the time, even though it's only supposed to work in the lounge. The bed was extremely comfortable. The claw foot tub was a welcome amenity after a day of skiing (and falling). The books and movies provided offered something for everyone and kept the spirit of the Highlands going even while staying in for the evening.
The Abbey itself is gorgeous and a lot of fun to explore on a snowy day. The booklet that Mark and Laurie provide is full of really wonderful places to explore. Ft. Augustus is a great base to explore the Highlands.
The staff and residents of the Abbey were equally great. They make you feel right at home. I left with several new friends.

Liked least: sometimes the wifi didn't work in the apt, but technically, it's only supposed to work in the lounge anyway.

“Matches up to expectations”
Reviewed April 16, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

The apartment matches up to all the good comments. The decor and quality of the apartment is superior to any other self catering place that we have stayed. The most important part however is the amazing view of the Loch! The apartment owners are very friendly and helpful as are the staff at the Highland Club.

The village is only a minute or two to walk and has essential shops and at least one very good pub - The Loch Inn. The longest drive we made was an hour to see Eilean Donan but there are plenty of nearby sights and information is left in the apartment to help you out.

We were on our honeymoon as were the people before us and it sounds like the people after got engaged!
