“lovely little town, great place for food and canal watching”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

It's a great place to stop when travelling, or a good base to stay when exploring the area. It's got a bit of charm about it, and even if you don't like boats, to watch the canal locks working is a treat - particularly when the road moves to the side - kids of all ages love it! It's also got some really nice places to eat and people are friendly.

“Fantastic touring location”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

We stayed in Old School 10 apartment. The location was beautiful, views of the canal and lovely grounds down to the loch. The apartment was comfortably furnished with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, dishwasher, washer/ dryer and microwave. Lots of character with the beautiful old windows of the school and quirky 2 levels between the rooms.

Our hostess kindly left us with a bottle of wine and shortbread on arrival' alongside basics such as tea and milk and delightful local toiletries. Only downsides were the small pool in the complex and tiny poorly equipped gym ( hence no photos). Otherwise a fab apartment that we would definitely recommend.

“Full of charm and very pretty”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

A pretty village full of charm. We watched the boats go through the lock.
The views from the Boathouse restaurant across the lock is breathtaking.
The locals are all so welcoming and charming.
Fort Augustus is a central point from which to explore Inverness, Skye and Malaig.
