“Forest and birds in excellent accommodation”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

Really first class bed and breakfast with hosts Elaine and John. I was in the really comfortable single room with a view out to the forest behind. The breakfast was really nice in the company of the fellow guests whilst being able to watch the birds outside. Always interested in the previous days activities, and those to come Elaine was full of excellent suggestions. I will certainly return as it makes an excellent point to go in any direction dependent upon mood!

Hello Ron and thank you for such a lovely review!

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you were more than comfortable in the single room. It is a cosy little room isn't it?

I am also pleased that I helped with suggestions for you and I am always interested in our guests day and how they have enjoyed it.

The birds as you will have noticed are very well fed, no wonder we get so many!

It was lovely to meet you and if you are ever back up to the Highlands we would love to see you again.

Thank you again

Kind regards
Elaine and John

Our hosts were very welcoming and made us feel completely at home welcoming us with a drink and lots of useful information. The bedroom was very good and comfortable and the breakfasts cooked by John were excellent.

Room Tip: Keep driving along this dead end road to find the accommodation, it is worth it.

A bit off the beaten track but what a wonderful surprise. I redeemed myself over the place we stayed in Norwich.
Elaine & John made us most welcoming and made us a pot tea which we outside looking over the mountains.
The room was first class, the breakfast next morning was excellent, the ambience of the place connot be described enough.
We will stay there again. And an after-thought they advised us where to have an evening meal in Fort Augustus. Again it was good.

Thank you for the wonderful hospitality you afforded us.

Room Tip: If you get the chance, stay there.

We were two pairs spending one night in this B&B. We highly recommend stay to anybody.

Elaine contacted us Immediately after making the reservation. Explained in details route and sent other useful info. I suggest to use GPS co-ordinates, because with these we found the place very easily.

The rooms is extra clean and the atmosphere very nice.

We really enjoyed Elaine's short introduction to Scotish history which made our evening.

Thank you very much for very pleasant stay!

Mavisburn is the best B&B we have stayed in. From a really warm welcome by Elaine and John with a cup of tea and biscuits to a fabulous en-suite room. We wish we could have stayed longer and were sorry to leave such a nice home in its woodland setting.
If you are thinking of booking a B&B in Fort Augusutus, look no further - this one cannot be bettered !!

we stayed one inght ( wished it could have been more ) at Mavisburn B and B. Location for us was perfect. Off the beaten tack ( not far ) and so quiet. Lots of nature around. Very warm welcome with Tea and Cakes. lovely room and god breakfast. The perect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourists.

We arrived at Mavisburn to a warm welcome and a much needed cup of tea (and cake and biscuits!!). Our first impression of the property was how clean it was, we were not disappointed when we were shown to the en suite double room. I challenge anyone to find a speck of dust or a dead spider anywhere!! The furniture and fittings were good quality which stood out a mile. No flat packs for Elaine and John!!
Elaine was kind enough to drive us to the village and collect us both evenings to enable us to have a meal and a few drinks in Fort Augustus which is a couple of miles from Mavisburn. The setting of the B&B is beautiful, so quiet! I'm not sure if that is why we slept so well, or it may have been the large comfy bed and fresh bed linen.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this property, it is tranquil, very clean, with VERY helpful and accommodating owners.
Thank you for your hospitality
