Clunebeg Lodge Guest House
Ranked #19 of 32 Drumnadrochit B&B and Inns
Reviewed September 22, 2012

We recently visited Clunebeg Lodge. Unfortunately we didn't stay the night, partly as we were called away. Based on the price, and previous experience we felt that Clunebeg Lodge overpriced. There was a four poster bed, but a mouldy en-suite and throw away plastic cups. We were overpowered by air fresher when we walked in which made us question what it was covering - it was stifling too.

The hosts were amicable when we informed them we had to leave. After we'd left we all agreed that the B&B would be great for walkers looking to bed down for the night after a long day but didn't necessarily appeal to other visitors.

Thank you for your review.

We are always pleased to receive feedback to help us improve our service and I would like to take the opportunity to respond to your comments.

We do operate as a bed and breakfast and feel that if you had actually spent more than a few minutes with us, before being called away, and experienced our comfortable beds and scottish breakfast that you may have found us better value.

We find that our guests prefer individually wrapped, disposable plastic glasses for bathroom use. We are more than happy to provide wine glasses or tumblers for use in the rooms. The small patch of condensation staining on the shower ceiling was removed shortly after your visit.

We prefer guests to arrive to a warm room. All our rooms have individual heaters to enable guests to adjust the temperature to their liking. Although are rooms are thoroughly aired each day we sometimes find that the smell of perfume etc can linger and will place an air freshener in the room. We are sorry if you found this to be too strong for your liking.

Thanks once again for your feedback.

We had to book this hotel early to get a space. This was like a little country home and the atmosphere was fabulous! We had a four poster bed room and it was small like most European rooms and everything was well appointed. The breakfast was excellent and the hosts were amicable. Check with the tourist info for the location and don't trust your GPS.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend away at Clunebeg. Chris and Jane were lovely, welcoming hosts who looked after us very well. Clunebeg Guest House was spotlessly clean and cosy with a gorgeous four poster bed. We had a great time and have returned with our batteries fully recharged.

Myself and my wife stayed at Clunebeg Lodge whilst on a driving holiday around Scotland.

The owners gave us a lovely welcome, the room was clean, comfortable and very well maintained. It was away from the road so we had a quiet night's sleep.

The breakfast was great and they were happy to cater for veggies.

Clunebeg Lodge is quite rural so is the ideal base for touring around and we had a lovely day trip to Skye from there.

The guest house is set in excellent walking country, is clean and modern. It is approached by a very long un-made drive which one of the two local restaurants offering a pick-up service refuses to venture up. (It is worth noting that the other restaurant offering this service would not pick-up after 18.30.) The drive is perhaps better suited to a more rugged vehicle than the average family saloon. The rooms were attractively decorated and furnished but the triple room was rather cramped. I found the sign informing guests that stolen towels will be charged to their credit card offensive - I do not steal towels and never have done. On one day of our stay the beds in one room were not made - I assume there were staff problems and regard it as a minor irritation. Overall there was a lack of warmth and welcoming atmosphere. We will not be back.

We spent 2 nights at Clunebeg lodge and wish it had been longer. The lodge is located in an estate on a hillside overlooking the quaint village of Drumnadrochit. The views are wonderful and it is an ideal base for exploring Loch Ness.
We were warmly welcomed by our host Jay, who was very friendly and helpful. And, he cooks a great breakfast too.
Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. The quiet location and fresh county air ensured we slept like logs.
There is also a nice lounge area to watch TV or read in comfort and internet facility if required.
We highly recommend Clunebeg Lodge, and hope to return again soon.
